The creation of the Neighborhood Police and the reorganization and modernization of the Local Police, short-term objectives of the municipal government (13/11/2019)

The Local Police of Cartagena celebrated Wednesday, November 13, their employer, San Leandro, with a series of acts aimed at highlighting the work of the agents.

After the Mass in Santo Domingo, which was attended by civil and military authorities, it was time for the delivery of distinctions and awards at an institutional event held for the first time in the Town Hall square, where the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor for Public Safety, Juan Pedro Torralba, has dedicated a few words to the attendees, accompanied by the head of the Local Police, Emilio Rodríguez.

Thus, the mayor has highlighted on this day the incorporation of 54 new agents' that will contribute, without a doubt, to improve the service we offer to our citizens', emphasizing one of the priority objectives of the municipal government 'reorganize and modernize the local police in Cartagena, we had to strengthen the workforce, given the many casualties of recent years. '

Juan Pedro Torralba has also officially welcomed the new agents who "will contribute to guaranteeing the safety of our municipality, at a time like this, in which the neighbors demand a greater police presence."

In this sense, the mayor of Public Safety has indicated that among the objectives of his Department is the creation of the so-called 'Neighborhood Police', which will meet the needs of the neighbors, increasing the police presence in each population center 'we want to contribute to extend the deterrent effect and thus frustrate the commission of crimes. '

In addition, Torralba has announced that, in the coming weeks, the new bulletproof vests acquired by the city council will come into service, ending its speech with another announcement, and that is that 'at the request of the Veterans Association, we will dedicate a Park hall Security for agents who have retired.

In this way and as a border, the photos and numbers of the agents will be hung up, which for many years have helped to ensure the safety of Cartagena and its citizens'.

During the event, 10 new agents of the mobility shift took possession, which were immediately incorporated into the service of the Cartagena City Council.

The plates have also been delivered to more than twenty agents who have reached their retirement during this year, while recognition diplomas for services were granted to various active agents.

Before the speech of the mayor, who has put an end to the ceremony, plaques of thanks were given for the work of personalities and commanders of the judicial career and of the bodies and security forces, as has been the magistrate, Jacinto Areste;

to the prosecutor of the Superior Court of Justice, Verónica Celdrán;

to the captains of the Civil Guard in Cartagena and Torre Pacheco, José Antonio Muñoz and Manuel Gil and to the commissioner of the National Police of Cartagena, Damián Romero.

Among the authorities attending the event were the admiral chief of the Military Arsenal, Aniceto Rosique, the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the military commander, Javier Frías, the councilors of the Corporation, María Casajús, Alejandra Gutiérrez, José López, Gonzalo Abad, Pilar Marcos, Jesús Giménez, Isabel García, María José Soler, Arancha Pérez, Pilar García and Aurelia García, among others.

Some 300 people have followed the event, in which a hundred agents in training have participated, among which were the 44 trainees of the Police Academy;

the 10 of the mobility shift that have taken possession;

and another 44 active agents, to which the mayor has reviewed, at the beginning of the ceremony.
