The XXIII edition of Entre Cuerdas y Metales is underway (12/11/2019)

One more year, Entre Cuerdas y Metales is put back into motion by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, celebrating this year its XXIII edition.

The Contest of Classical Music Between Strings and Metals for young performers of the Region of Murcia has been presented at the City Hall this Tuesday, November 12, by the councilor of the Youth Area, David Martínez, accompanied by the director of the Conservatory of Music from Cartagena, María José Castaño, the conductor of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, Álvaro Pintado, and the conductor of the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, Leonardo Martínez.

This new call will be dedicated to one of the greatest musicians in history: Ludwig van Beethoven, commemorating this 250th anniversary of his birth this 2020 with a Cycle of Promotional Concerts throughout this 2019/20 school year.

The image of this year's poster is by the author Ángel Ronda de 'La Diligencia', also embodying the novelty of including in this edition the participation of students of spikes within the Individual Modality of Pulsed Rope.

For this reason, the presentation has had the performance of the Trio of Pulse and Púa composed by Ángela Pérez to the bandurria, Eva Donet to the tenor bandurria and Carmen María Mateo to the guitar, who have performed 'Villarejo Suite' by Pedro Chamorro.

METHODS AND REGISTRATION OF THE CONTEST

This is the only contest of interpreters at the regional level, where all the instruments of the orchestra and specialties that are taught in the conservatories are accommodated: This year the spike and harp instruments have also been added in the Pulsed String mode, counting like this with 8 modalities:

PIANO

ROPE (violin, viola, cello, double bass)

WOODWIND (transverse flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon)

METAL WIND (trombone, trumpet, horn, tuba)

PERCUSSION

PULSED ROPE (classical guitar, flamenco guitar, pick instruments, harp)

VOICE (lyric singing, singing applied to dramatic art, flamenco singing)

CHAMBER MUSIC

Students who are studying Professional Music Teaching, in any of the modalities convened, born or who accredit their residence in the Region of Murcia, as well as students who are studying music in any of the specialties convened in any Center of Participation may participate Musical studies or Conservatories of the Region.

(Those born or resident in the region of Murcia will also have to prove that they are enrolled in a Conservatory or Center for Musical Studies).

In Voice, participation is also opened to students of the Superior School of Dramatic Arts of Murcia.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF REGISTRATIONS: begins November 18 and ends on December 18, 2019. Registration will be made at the Department of Youth, Cartagena Conservatory of Music or by registered mail.

This year it is established, as in previous editions, in each of the modalities two phases: one eliminator and one final, where the contestants will interpret the works that will be of free choice in any case, taking place in the months of March and April, in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.

THE DELIVERY OF PRIZES AND CLOSING CONCERT OF THE COMPETITION: will be on April 30 in the Isidoro Máiquez Hall of the Auditorium and Congress Hall El Batel where the Jury's decision in all modalities and the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena will play Beethoven's Eighth Symphony.

"This year has increased the economic amount allocated to the contest," confirmed the councilor during the presentation, "being his total budget of € 82,350 along with the amount allocated to prizes amounting to € 16,850."

As a novelty, in the individual modalities where there is more than one instrument a fourth prize, in addition to having increased the economic amount with respect to last year in the first, second and third prizes.

It is still considered as in previous editions in each of the modalities the possibility of giving a mention to the youngest students of maximum 15 years who have not won a prize, but that for their interpretative quality they deserve to receive this recognition from the different juries.

Within the novelties of this year, in the promotional activities the possibility of the winning group playing at the Festival “Classics in Museumsâ€, organized by the Department of Culture, in September 2020 is added to the Chamber Music Modality .

PROMOTIONAL CONCERTS CYCLE

The protagonists of the program of this cycle will be the winners of the last edition of the contest accompanied by the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra with a Chamber Orchestra template, following the objective of the contest to promote young talents in the Region.

This year as a novelty, all the winners will play in the three concerts that will take place in Murcia, Jumilla and Cartagena.

This year also recovers the presence of a former winner in the competition in its 2012 edition, percussionist Alejandro Solano, winner of the Reef Award at the International Festival of Cante de las Minas last summer, who will accompany the guitarist with the drawer flamenco Daniel Madrid (awarded in this modality this year between strings) and the orchestra of Cartagena.

The Cycle of Concerts, how could it be otherwise and within the commemorative activities of Beethoven's 250th Anniversary, will open with a work by this composer: the first movement of one of the quartets composed by Beethoven arranged by Leonardo Martínez for Orchestra of String “String Quartet Nº 11â€.

BEETHOVEN ACTIVITIES IN COMMEMORATION 250 ANNIVERSARY

EXTRAORDINARY CONCERT BETWEEN STRINGS AND METALS: March 5, 8:00 p.m.

at the El Batel Auditorium

In this concert, as in his six predecessors, he regains the presence of former winners of the Between Strings and Metals Contest as soloists in orchestral concerts, which have consolidated and reaped numerous successes in their musical careers.

The concert will bring together three award-winning old musicians from the competition between strings and metals on the Batel stage, performing the Concerto for violin, cello and piano in C major, op.

56, known as the Triple Concert.

The program is completed with the Coriolano Overture, op.

62. and Beethoven's Fourth Symphony.

BEETHOVEN ON WHEELS

It is a novel and unique activity in our region, where a traveling music program is offered on the road, throughout the entire day of December 16, date on which Beethoven was born, with live performances by musicians from the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, inside the urban bus of line 18 that goes to the Hospital Santa Lucia, interpreting at all times works of Beethoven.

Raúl López will perform at the top, José Manuel Parrón at the trombone, Ana Ros with the flute and Yolanda Sordo at the violin.

JOSCT CONCERT

The Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena will perform one of the best known works of the classical repertoire, such as the Seventh Symphony of Lv Beethoven, according to statistics the most interpreted work each year worldwide.

The seventh, originally composed for a symphony orchestra, will sound this time in its version for ten instruments.

BEETHOVEN IN THE NIGHT

As is traditional, Entre Cuerdas y Metales, will be present at the Night of the Museums of Cartagena with the interpretation of works by Beethoven, closing this 23 edition of Entre Cuerdas y Metales
