The body, soul and mind of the artist Ãngel García Maciá exhibited in Cartagena (11/11/2019)

The Cartagena artist, Ángel García Maciá, shows the works of his new exhibition 'Tricotomy', in the Carlos Gallego Room of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.

The opening, on Friday, November 8, of the exhibition was attended by the Councilor for the Culture, Youth and Equality Department of the City of Cartagena, David Martínez and the Director of Culture, Chenchi Plazas.

In addition, the mayor of the municipal corporation, María José Soler, visited this exhibition.

The works, which may be visited until January 10, 2020, are a plea in favor of collective reason.

From an intimate view, the artist wants to claim the value of difference, tenderness, love for love, the fight against pain caused by wounds.

The exhibition consists of four parts: Painting, photography, sculpture (object poem) and poetry.

In this way, a visual and sometimes literary plastic discourse is created in which several disciplines are intertwined and that through symbology, we will immerse ourselves in a journey inside the human being.

This work is a reflection in favor of life and personal growth and, for its development, an investigation through the disciplines was necessary.

In the artist's works, feelings and concepts are reflected where the figure of the author himself stripped of his clothes shows his own nature.

It is important to use color that sometimes especially in photography and painting reduce its color range to emphasize the message of this work.

The self-portrait has provided the author with the tool to develop the discourse of these works, where sometimes it has been necessary to narrow some parts of the body to reach the essence of the message.

'Tricotomy' is also the trinity of our being: body, mind and soul.

Without these three elements we are nothing and nothing is a sterile space that I reject in my work:

Body: the matter from which we are made and the container from which we cannot escape because we inhabit it.

Mind: the thought of our essence, which we have at birth and accompanies us throughout our lives.

Soul: the intimate, spiritual and immaterial space that nobody and nothing can destroy.

This Triad configures the starting point of 'Trichotomy' which, together with the previously explained, makes this series of works a sample where the different plastic disciplines are used as a tool.

A means of social awareness and engine of change for collective consciousness.
