A last quarter full of activities to improve the Historic District and Station Sector in Cartagena (04/11/2019)

The Intercultural Community Intervention Project in Cartagena (ICI Project), promoted by the Cepaim Foundation, the Obra Social 'la Caixa' and the City Council of Cartagena, reviews the activities in 2019 and presents the calendar for the last months of the year .

This project, which started in Cartagena in 2014, works to generate a community process that promotes intercultural citizen coexistence in these neighborhoods with a rich cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity.

The main objective is to improve the living conditions in the neighborhood, enabling local actors to face autonomously the challenges of living together and prevent conflict situations.

Throughout 2019, work has been carried out jointly with the Mesa de Salud and the Mesa de Educación y Cultura in the preparation and development of the planned actions.

Both spaces are composed of technicians and technicians of public and private entities of the territory.

The activities developed, framed in the Annual Programming of the project, are:

School Day of Nonviolence and Peace (January 30).

We celebrated this activity as a community action in the neighborhood, in San Francisco square, with the involvement of several entities in the territory, outside the educational center, as usual.

II Institutional Relationship Space (April 24).

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, presents the main challenges and conclusions of the Evaluation of the Community Process to the representatives of political groups and to the members of the Institutional Relationship Space, in the act of renewing the institutional commitment to coexistence.

V Technical Conference 'Living the Present, Building the Future' (May 30).

The conclusions and challenges of the Community Assessment are presented to technicians involved in the process, and we participate in the training 'Strategies for participation', taught by Javier Ferrer, of the Scientific Directorate of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
