The commission to promote the declaration of Cartagena as a World Heritage Site starts (29/10/2019)

The council hall of the Consistorial Palace of Cartagena hosted on Tuesday October 29 the first meeting of the Joint Monitoring Commission for the Promotion of the Declaration of the city of Cartagena as a World Heritage Site, by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO).

During the constitutive session of the Commission, composed of representatives of the City Council of Cartagena and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, in order to work jointly and coordinated by the various administrations involved in the file to obtain it, the designation of positions that compose it has been determined, the president of the city, Ana Belén Castejón, being president;

and vice-presidents the Councilors of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, and that of Culture and Education, Esperanza Moreno.

The other members of the Commission are members, specifically, by the City Council, the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo;

the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín;

the Councilor for Tourism, Cristina Pérez;

the councilor of the area of ​​Culture, Youth and Equality, David Martínez Noguera, and the councilor delegate of Culture, Carlos Piñana.

And by the Autonomous Community, the general director of the Tourism Institute, Francisco Bernabé;

the regional secretary for Culture, Juan Antonio Lorca, and the general director of Cultural Assets, Rafael Gómez.

The secretary, appointed by the City Council, will be the director of Strategic Projects, Historical-Artistic Heritage and Culture, Damián Pérez Olmos.

In addition to the charges, during the meeting the periodicity of the meetings has been set, which will be every three months, as explained by Ana Belén Castejón, pointing out that with this work meeting "the planned roadmap is consolidated to make a important work that will be reported to the media, and continue to put Cartagena on the international map of Tourism and Culture, since we have all the potential and the necessary requirements for it. "
