The Juan Sebastián Elcano Institute of Cartagena has started this Tuesday, October 29, its second new year as the European Parliament Ambassador School.
For this reason, an event has been organized at the center, attended by the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, and in which the students have presented the work they did during the last course of Youth Ambassadors of the European Parliament, as interviews to other exchange students, tastings of typical dishes from other countries and representations of their most popular parties.
Last year's ambassadors have received a diploma and the students in the 4th year of the ESO have been appointed to replace them throughout this course.
In addition, a plaque has been discovered in which Elcano is credited as the European Parliament's Ambassador School.
We have also had the presence of the director general of the European Union in the Region, Juan José Martínez Lozano, as well as the director of the Europe Direct Office, Teresa Allepuz Ros.
These authorities, together with the center's director, José Enrique García Aja, have been responsible for delivering the diplomas to the youth ambassadors of the past year.
The IES Elcano is integrated in the network of ambassador schools of which 108 centers are part of all Spain and many others in the rest of the EU, being one of the 3 ambassadors centers of the Region, next to IES Juan Carlos I of Murcia and IES SANJE de Alcantarilla.
Its mission as an ambassador school is to spread the values ​​of the European Union, as well as the activities of the European Parliament, both in our center and educational community, as well as in our locality.
