Cartagena participates in the 'Enceta glass, we all win' campaign in which you can win a recycled glass track (28/10/2019)

Promoting healthy lifestyle habits with the practice of sport linked to the health of the planet with glass recycling are the main objectives of the new campaign organized by Ecovidrio, an entity responsible for managing the recycling of these containers throughout the country, together with the Basketball Federation of the Region of Murcia in which the Cartagena City Council will participate with eleven other municipalities in the Region.

The objective of this initiative is to increase the amounts of glass containers that are collected in the igloos arranged in the city, raising awareness of the importance of recycling, while promoting the practice of basketball and the values ​​that this sport has associated as they are companionship and collaboration, teamwork.

Thus, from this same Monday, October 28 and until next December, the participating municipalities will have five igloos in the form of a basketball on a rotating basis in the most central areas of three municipalities each week.

'Encesta glass, we win all' will begin in the city of Murcia and will be extended to Cartagena the week of November 4 to 10, where these special containers shaped like a green ball will be installed in the Plaza de José María Artes, Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza Juan XXIII, in the Alameda de San Antón at the height of the intersection with Asdrúbal Street and in front of the Plaza Juan Calero de Los Dolores.

Then the campaign will continue through Lorca, Molina de Segura, Alcantarilla, Torre Pacheco, Águilas, Cieza, Yecla, San Javier, Totana and Mazarrón.

At the end of the campaign, which was presented this Monday in Murcia, that municipality that has collected more glass containers in them and have spread the campaign better will be rewarded with the reform of one of its municipal tracks with recycled glass material, the first of these characteristics that will be in the Region.

THE GLASS RECYCLING IN CARTAGENA INCREASES BY 8%

Last year, Cartagena increased by 8.14% the kg of glass that were collected in igloos throughout the municipality, currently 1,050, thus recycling a total of 3.2 million kg from September last year to September 2019 , compared to 2.9 million the previous year.

The amount of recycled glass per inhabitant has also increased, reaching 15% this year, coinciding with the installation in recent years of more specific containers in the city, with 204 igloos per inhabitant today compared to the 242 that Cartagena presented in 2011
