The Cartagena will fly this Christmas to the Land of Neverland by Peter Pan (28/10/2019)

Lost children, fairies, mermaids, fearsome pirates, Indians, a hungry crocodile, the Darling family and the boy who never wanted to grow up will leave the pages of the play by Scottish writer James Matthew Barrie, 'Peter Pan', turning the city Cartagena not only in an Edwardian-Victorian London but also in the Neverland, where Cartagena can fly with their imagination thanks to the magic dust of Campanilla.

The Municipal Auditorium and Conference Center El Batel will be the stage where the premiere of the musical play 'Peter Pan' will take place, performed by children and teachers of the theater group 'More than Art'.

It will be within the Christmas program of the City of Cartagena, on Sunday, December 29, at 12 noon.

The details of the musical have been offered at a press conference on the morning of October 28 by the Councilor for Education of the City of Cartagena, Irene Ruiz, and the director of the theater company 'More than Art', María Ángeles Sánchez.

Both the Department and the theater company are responsible for this activity.

The mayor of Education, Irene Ruiz, has affirmed that “the theater is an unquestionable educational resource, which allows working aspects such as oral and body expression, imagination, creativity and memory.

In addition, at the group level, it allows students to work on values ​​such as teamwork, cooperation, collaboration and, above all, the satisfaction of work well done among all ”.

From the point of view of the spectators, Irene Ruiz, has pointed out that “the theater allows to share leisure moments in the company of family, friends and colleagues, travel to imaginary and fictional worlds, favor the ability to concentrate and actively listen and share feelings and emotions with other partners in the public ”.

The Department of Education values ​​the importance of theater in society, so they annually organize the School Theater Show.

In the last edition, the XXXI, 290 young schoolchildren from different institutes and colleges of the municipality of Cartagena participated in the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, as well as teachers and theater monitors.

Another example of the commitment to the theater by the City of Cartagena is the premiere of the musical play 'Peter Pan', by the theater company 'More than Art'.

Its director, María Ángeles Sánchez, explained that "you can't reveal anything about the show, because although the public knows the story, there will be numerous surprises."

After training in Cartagena, this musical will tour the main national stages of Palencia, Burgos, Valladolid, Andalusia or the Valencian Community bringing the Cartagena theater to these cities and autonomous communities.

The director of the theater company has invited the public to attend this function and "let your imagination fly with Peter Pan" as it is aimed at all sectors of society because "if we laugh rehearsing, the public regardless of the age will too. ”

The tickets that have just been put on sale can be purchased on the website or at the box office of the Municipal Auditorium El Batel, from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets cost between 12 and 15 euros.

Attendees can enjoy the adventures of the child who did not want to grow and travel to the second star on the right and straight ahead until dawn because, as Peter Pan says, “never stop dreaming, since the one who dreams learns to fly” .
