The Elderly and Disability Fair puts the finishing touch a month of the fairs in Cartagena (25/10/2019)

Numerous public and private institutions, as well as associations of elderly and disabled people, are participating and showing in their 47 stands their services and resources in the Fair of Resources and Services for Seniors and People with Disabilities 'Femadis 19'.

This activity, organized by the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena, through the Unit for the Elderly and People with Disabilities, is framed in the initiative 'Cartagena, fair month'.

Throughout the month of October, in the Heroes de Cavite square of Cartagena, different fairs and meetings have been developed, organized by the different City Councils, such as the Women's Associations Fair, the X Outlet Fair, the Associations Meeting Juveniles or the Artisan Market, turning this month into the fair.

'Femadis 19' that puts the finishing touch to this month of the fair will be held until Sunday, October 27.

The starting signal of this has had the assistance of the vice mayor of Cartagena and councilor of the area of ​​Social Welfare, Noelia Arroyo, the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the delegated councilor of this area, Mercedes Garcia and the delegated councilor of Culture, Carlos Piñana.

The councilors of the municipal corporation, Aurelia García and Jesús Giménez, have also visited the fair.

The Vice Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, explained that "the City Council of Cartagena is completely focused on two sectors of society, the elderly and people with disabilities, for integration and involvement in their social life."

The companies participate this year representing in this fair all kinds of resources and services that help these groups to stay comfortably in their home and environment, with home help companies, family respite, hearing centers, tele assistance, technical aids, socio-sanitary services, neurorehabilitation centers, spas, as well as day centers and residences.

The Elderly People belonging to more than 30 clubs of our municipality, as well as the Federation that encompasses all of them, are also meeting at this Fair, representing through different stands, the various workshops they carry out throughout the course.

Some senior clubs are displaying traditional trades on their stands such as the bolillo and esparto, the castañeras, also making homemade soaps.

In addition, the Senior Clubs will also exhibit in their booths the flavor of the cuisine of Cartagena, whose funds raised will donate to an institution that needs it.

The Councilor for Social Welfare has affirmed that "Spain is a country that has the second highest life expectancy in the world, so we should be especially interested and concerned with the generation of projects and services that help us overcome the problems that they go together with age. "

The president of the Federation of Associations and Centers for the Elderly of Cartagena and Comarca, María Beteta, stressed that this year she is having a "good reception" 'Femadis 19'.

He has also explained that visitors can see on the stands the workshops and courses they carry out and taste traditional products of our gastronomy.

A neighbor of Molinos Marfagones, Isabel Martínez, has said that attendees can find women making bobbin and crochet or roasting chestnuts.

People with Disabilities are also represented in these stands and this year we have 30 associations, joining for the first time: Striding on Wheels, Prometheus, Retimur, Red Cross, Asteamur, Once Cartagena, ACCU, EMACC, Asorcar and Autism we are All, Ostomized , AcMU, in addition to the rest of disability associations that have been participating year after year in this fair such as Sodicar, Asido, AFAL, TP, Apices, Asilo San Pedro Store and Shoulder with Shoulder, among others.
