Cartagena has been the scene this Thursday, October 24, of the celebration of the Veterans Day of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, which every year this event is celebrated at a different point in the Spanish geography.
This celebration, institutionalized by the Ministry of Defense, is organized on a rotating basis by the Navy, the Earth and Air armies and the Civil Guard.
In this year it has corresponded to the Navy.
On the occasion of this day, at noon on the esplanade 'Royal Scale' of the Alfonso XII dock in Cartagena, the traditional hoisting of the National Flag has been carried out, chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Defense, Lieutenant General of the Army of Earth , Fernando Alejandre Martínez.
This event has been attended by more than 400 veterans and with the assistance of the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, accompanied by the Admiral General, Teodoro López, Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy (AJEMA) and Lieutenant General (GC), José Manuel García, president of the Royal Brotherhood of Veterans of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, in addition, of different civil and military authorities.
Upon arrival, the Chief of Staff of Defense reviewed the Mixed Company of Honors and the 440 Veterans Group formed into five blocks and a script section.
He then greeted a representation of the National Board of the Royal Veterans Brotherhood and the authorities.
After the homage to the National Flag, with a hoist carried out by 12 veterans and with honors from the Battery of the Regiment of Artillery Antiaircraft No. 73 (RAAA-73) of the Army of Earth, the imposition of decorations to veterans and a tribute to the fallen in battle.
The events ended with the anthems of the Navy and the Royal Veterans Brotherhood of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, and a parade of the Force and the Veterans Association.
