Activated the pre-emergence of municipal services before the yellow warning by cold drop (22/10/2019)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, decreed in the early hours of yesterday afternoon the pre-emergence of municipal services before the yellow warning issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) that provides rainfall for today Tuesday, October 22, which they could reach 60 liters per square meter in the accumulated of 12 hours and 20 liters, in one hour.

The pre-emergency involves the state of location of the different area councilors and delegates, managers and municipal officials that could be activated to intervene directly, if the cold drop forecasts are met.

Exceeded the equator of the yellow warning for rains in the municipality of Cartagena, until eight in the morning, no special incidents have been recorded.

Only the cut of the road of the Siphon between Las Tejeras and Molino Derribao by flooding of the road at the height of the railway bridge.

The AEMET measuring stations have registered from about 11 last night until 7 this morning about 14 liters per square meter on average in the municipality.

The mayor in coordination with the municipal government councilors is monitoring the evolution of the forecasts in case the municipal services operation is activated, which according to the AEMET could be intensified between 10 am and 12 noon.

With a view to the arrival of this new cold drop, which is being of much less intensity than that experienced on September 13, the municipal infrastructure services have carried out during this weekend cleaning tasks of the ramblas in their sections urban areas that usually present problems, while the concessionaire of the sewerage network, Hidrogea, has reviewed pits, scuppers and water pumping systems;

and the road cleaning, Lhicarsa, the removal of leaves from the streets to prevent the clogging of sinks.

Local Police, Fire and Civil Protection personnel are also located and attentive to what the next hours might hold.

From the City Council, the usual advice is repeated again, especially regarding not trying to cross floodwaters or flooded areas either on foot or aboard a vehicle, in the face of being dragged.

Neither camp nor remain in flood areas.

Also to avoid flooding in homes, it is advisable to check downspouts and keep the sinks clear of leaves.
