Shakespeare and clowns for the benefit of the Belarusian children of Chernobyl (17/10/2019)

The Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center hosts this Thursday, October 24, the performance of the play 'Chespier in clown'.

An activity, whose collection will go to children affected by Chernobyl, is interpreted by the actors and actresses of the Workshop Workshop Theater of the Loft, in which the NGO SANAC (Sanitation for children affected by Chernobyl), the Department of Culture of the City Council of Cartagena and the Performing Arts Platform of Cartagena and Comarca PAECC.

The details of the play have been offered on the morning of October 17 by the Councilor for Culture of the City of Cartagena, Carlos Pińana, the president of the NGO SANAC, Santiago Martínez and the head of the work and president of the theater company Teatro del Desván, José Salguero.

The Councilor for Culture, Carlos Pińana, said that this initiative demonstrates that "artists and cultural associations of Cartagena bet and collaborate in all those causes that improve the quality of life of people."

Therefore, 'Chespier in clown', the 2018-2019 end-of-year work of the Workshop Classroom of the Loft Theater, will have a solidarity component.

The collection of tickets, which cost 6 euros and can be purchased at the Visual Care optician or at the position of the NGO SANAC at the youth associations fair, which will start this weekend, in the Heroes Square of Cavite, It will go to children affected by the tragedy of Chernobyl.

The president of the NGO SANAC, Santiago Martínez, thanked the collaboration of the City Council and the Theater of the Loft in the implementation of this solidarity activity.

The NGO SANAC is responsible for welcoming children from Belarus during Christmas and two months in summer to help reduce 20 or 30% of the radiation due to the Chernobyl accident, which occurred on April 26, 1986, at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin nuclear power plant , located in northern Ukraine.

In addition, Martínez has stressed that thanks to the collection of the play they hope to “reach a greater number of reception of Belarusian children to improve their lives”.

The work of 'Chespier in clown' will go on stage on the most representative tragedies of the English author William Shakespeare as 'Macbeth', 'Hamlet', 'Othello', 'The tamed little fierce' or 'The whole world is a stage'.

The director of the company the Theater of the Loft, José Salguero, has explained that the most important thing is to put “a smile to solidarity” and not to “the ideological line” since the Cartagena theater companies have helped associations and people affected so much from Spain as outside of it, an example the play for the benefit of the riverside municipalities affected by the DANA.
