City Council and Red Cross will create a working group to expand assistance to vulnerable groups (16/10/2019)

The City of Cartagena and the Red Cross will create a working group to study the recovery or expansion of projects aimed at vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and women who practice prostitution, as explained by the deputy mayor and head of the Social Services Area Noelia Arroyo, after visiting the organization's facilities on Gisbert Street, which she has accompanied by the delegated councilor, Mercedes García.

The working group will also serve to improve Red Cross collaboration with other municipal services, such as Health, Safety or Education, areas in which this institution develops services and programs.

Arroyo has met with the new president of the local assembly, Andrés Ros and members of his board of directors and has conveyed the thanks of the City Council for the work carried out by the Red Cross and, especially, for "the efforts made by the humanitarian reception after the wave of patera and in the relief to those affected by the floods caused by the DANA ".

One of the proposals that will be studied by the working group will be, precisely, to use the experiences in recent crises to develop training programs in first care and emergency situations.

The vice mayor has toured the facilities occupied by the institution and were transferred by the City Council and has analyzed with the board the programs that the Red Cross develops in the municipality and the support they receive from municipal social services.
