The Port of Cabo de Palos will be the departure of more than 240 swimmers this next Sunday, October 13, of the VI edition of the International Master of Autumn Cruise swimming at Cabo de Palos, which will feature the participation of athletes from all over the national, and also international, organized by the Murcia Master Swimming Club together with the Department of Sports of the City Council and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

It was this Wednesday, October 9, when the test has been officially presented at the City Hall by the deputy mayor and mayor of the Sports Area, Noelia Arroyo, along with the president of the swimming club, María José Montesinos , and the vice rector of students of the UPCT University Sports Extension, Sergio Amad.

"This test meets all the requirements that are worked from the council," said Arroyo during the presentation, as is "betting on sports linked to tourism and taking advantage of the natural resources of Cartagena."

The inscriptions of this sixth edition have far exceeded those of last year, being one of the most demanded competitions for the characteristics it presents in terms of the natural environment, the water temperature, which at this time of the year ranges between 19º and 20º, as well as the possibility of swimming next to the flora such as Poseidonia and fauna surrounding the cape and the emblematic Lighthouse of Cabo de Palos on a 3.5 km route.

The swimmers, who will jump into the water at 10 am in the morning and start their competition from the mouth 15 minutes later, will have a great deployment at sea with rescue and lifeguard, provided with canoes and boats, as well as buoys that will serve to the participants as a location point and a refreshment post upon arrival on land.

It is one of the few crossings that awards so many prizes, since it has a total of eleven categories, one of them for swimmers with reduced mobility.

In addition to the prizes for the first three positions of each one, gifts and raffles will be awarded among all participants.

As a main objective, the Master Murcia "intends to publicize our coastline and promote sport in a respectful and environmentally responsible manner," concluded the president of the swimming club.
