The School of Architecture and Building has hosted this morning the fourth edition of the Territory-Tourism conference, in which urban experts from the UPCT, the Polytechnic of Valencia and the University of Alicante participate and in which the “needs of intervention in tourism environments to ensure its sustainability and safety in the face of extreme weather events and reduce its environmental impact, ”said Garca.

"We must take advantage of existing tourist spaces to improve residential comfort and equipment, improving their competitiveness and creating new business models," said Rafael Temes, from the Polytechnic of Valencia, who believes that there is a phenomenon of "Waste of undeveloped urbanizable land" that generates high maintenance costs.

"Tourism is finite and you have to find a balance," said the expert, who sees a "potential for decline in coastal municipalities."

The day has been inaugurated by the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Daz, who has extolled the efforts of the UPCT researchers to “make tourism and the preservation of the territory compatible” and highlighted the training complement that it will mean for students Fourth year of the degree in Fundamentals in Architecture, which will work in two subjects throughout the course on the problems of urbanism on the coast.

The general director of the Territory and Architecture of the CARM, Jaime Prez, has also attended the inauguration, who said that “taking care of landscape values ​​is essential for adequate and sustainable growth” and that “a good architecture is part of a correct management of the territory based on rigorous studies and analysis ”.

The celebration of this day is possible thanks to the help received in the call for Aid to carry out activities within the framework of the Campus of International Excellence "Campus Mare Nostrum 37/38" of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and also in the call for Organization seminars, conferences or research conferences of the Department of Architecture and Building Technology.
