The City Council is studying the launch of tax credits for companies affected by DANA (20/09/2019)

The City Council of Cartagena is studying the possibility of launching tax bonuses for companies whose businesses have been affected by DANA last week.

This has been confirmed in the meeting that has been held this Friday, September 20 at the City Hall by the mayor of the Municipal Government of the affected areas along with those responsible for the cleaning service in the most affected areas.

Thus, the meeting has been chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, along with the Councilors of Social Services, Noelia Arroyo and Mercedes García;

of Security, Juan Pedro Torralba;

Infrastructure, María Casajús;

Decentralization, Diego Ortega, and Education, Irene Ruiz, where the work that has been carried out and that is still being undertaken to solve the damage caused by the 'cold drop' in the municipality has been treated.

“We have to provide our neighbors with all possible help.

Not only cleaning and improving the infrastructure of the affected villages, but helping them to meet the expenses they have to bear.

There are many businesses that are broken and, the minimum we can do is reduce the payment of taxes within our means, â€explained the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.

Specifically, the ordinance allows that, if the plenary approves it, a bonus will be introduced in the payment of the Property Tax (IBI) of 95 percent, for social interest for the affected businesses.

Likewise, the government team has agreed to request Hidrogea, a company responsible for the supply of drinking water, to exempt the neighbors affected by this cold drop from the payment of excess water that they have been forced to consume to undertake the necessary cleaning tasks of their homes and streets.

“We cannot punish neighbors with extra payments.

If they have been forced to consume much more water because there was a lot to clean, we must be supportive and try to ensure that their expenses do not increase even more, â€Castejón said.

In this sense, from OMITAS they will have information on the tax ordinances to which those affected can be accommodated to advise them.

It should be remembered that the ICIO tax ordinance allows families that have a home to repair in which a disabled person lives, will receive a bonus if, taking advantage of the works, they undertake their adaptation.

On the other hand, from the Government team instructions have been given to the Treasury so that residents who request building permits to rebuild the damages can receive deferrals that allow them not to disburse money until they can receive insurance or aid compensation that corresponds within the Royal Decree being studied by the Government of Spain.

"The City Council has a personalized payment plan in place, but we want the affected neighbors to know it and be able to take advantage of it, and can even get their taxes deferred until they get the help that corresponds to them," Castejón said.

On the other hand, the Urban Planning coordinator, Ángeles López, will be in charge of centralizing the damage assessment reports of all the councils of the City Council of Cartagena to send them to the relevant agencies.
