MC demands determination from the local government against the central and regional administrations after the effects of the cold drop (17/09/2019)

This morning, the deputy spokesman of MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, said that "the efforts and level of demand of the local government after the catastrophe generated by the effects of DANA in the Mar Menor show once again that they only represent themselves themselves and not the Cartagena. "

"The contrast with the mayors of Torre Pacheco or Los Alcázares," said Giménez, "leaves those of 'La Trinca' in their place. Some personally face the problems and point to the policy makers of the damage and elsewhere, we see that Arroyo takes Castejón for a walk to take pictures with López Miras and the Segado brothers. "

"For its part, the mayor poses with the political leaders of the poor state of the Mar Menor and having aggravated the effects of the cold drop because the only shelter she finds is the PP," he said.

Subsequently, the Cartagenerist leader has exposed the authentic attitude of the local executive "complacent, and fixing everything to the good work of public employees and volunteers, leaving aside the neighbors who suffer in their homes the effects of the storm."

Giménez has lamented that "the current amalgam that governs Cartagena is more like the director general of Emergencies who preferred the theater to the harsh reality and whose last function should be to resign today."

Concrete and urgent measures

The councilor of MC has continued his argument by stating that "in MC we consider that it is time to offer all Cartageneros solutions in the short, medium and long term."

"Those of 'La Trinca' must face the central and regional administrations to demand rational and sustainable policies and infrastructure for the region of Campo de Cartagena, which mitigates and does not enhance the effects of the storm," he reasoned.

Then, it has begun to enumerate some of the actions that the Consistory should undertake without further delay.

"The City Council must ask the European Union for aid from the Solidarity Fund to allocate them to the expenses that the Consistory has to face."

"Experience warns us that the intervention of other administrations has always slowed and hindered, in the case of Cartagena, these processes."

The cartagenerista leader has added that "there are other ways of financing that should be explored and that we believe that higher administrations should already be studying."

"For example, to obtain a loan through the European Investment Bank to subsequently sign agreements with the Consistories involved in order to use these funds for the recovery of flood-damaged areas and infrastructure."

Finally, Giménez has meant that "at the municipal level, we count on the creation of a Monitoring Commission for the Government to give an account of the destiny of these funds, such as the one of announced emergencies, since the legal control procedures will not be followed by exceptionality. We must ensure the proper use of these quantities and the priorities that are addressed. "
