OMITAS attend about 70 neighborhood consultations to process compensation for rain damage (16/09/2019)

The Municipal Information and Administrative Processing Offices (OMITAS) of the City of Cartagena have launched a service of advice and assistance to residents who suffered damage to their homes or vehicles as a result of the cold drop last Friday.

In the first hours of operation about 70 people have been served, especially residents of the area of ​​Los Nietos, La Manga and Los Urrutias.

The objective of this service is to show the affected people the procedures that they must follow to claim the compensation that corresponds to them before the insurance consortium, as well as the documentation that they must provide at all times, and where appropriate help them manage them.

The most important thing is that those affected have only seven days to make these claims, so they have extended the opening days and hours in one of these offices: mainly in Los Urrutias and Los Nietos, which will open every day until 20 September, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

To be entitled to compensation, applicants must have insurance, since otherwise they will have to wait for the area to be declared catastrophic or wait for the Ministry of Interior to offer some help.

Claims may be made within seven days of the incident through the toll-free number 900 222 665 or 952 367 042 (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday) or online through the website www.consorseguros.es

At the time of initiating the claim, the applicant must provide the details of the insurance policy, that is, the insurance company and the policy number;

the insured's personal data with his or her first and last name or business name, his NIF or CIF, his address and his contact telephone number and the bank details for the payment of compensation with the International Code of the bank account IBAN code (24 digits) composed of two alphabetic characters that indicate the country and two control digits, the bank entity number, the branch number and the current account number.

In the case of damage to motor vehicles, the applicant must provide information on the brand, model and registration of the damaged vehicle.

If you are in a workshop to be repaired, it is necessary to provide the name, address and telephone number of the same to expedite the assessment of the damage.

In the event that the claim is processed through OMITAS, the applicant must keep the registration number that will be given to use it as an identification.

It is very important to provide photographs, videos, purchase invoices or expenses as a result of the incident.

Elderly or disabled people will have OMITAS at all times with personal advice that will explain well the procedures to follow to request aid from the consortium and will help them in their case to carry it out.

In addition, OMITAS in collaboration with Social Services will meet the needs of people in vulnerable situations about food or household items that they have lost in the rains.

For this, the applicant must fill in a general instance with data, telephone, address and specific needs

With this initiative, the municipal government wants not only to facilitate claims for compensation from neighbors, but also to make an initial assessment of the damages suffered, both public and private, to transfer it to the Regional Government and the Government Delegation.
