Dozens of sailboats will meet this weekend at the III Latin Sailing Vivero Trophy (28/08/2019)

This next Saturday and Sunday, August 31 and September 1, Cabo de Palos will be the meeting point for dozens of boats of the classic Latin Sail with the III edition of the El Vivero Trophy.

It was this Wednesday, the 28th, when the Councilor for Sports Delegation of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, presented this sporting event at the City Hall together with the organizers Emilio Gil, president of the Nautical Club of Cabo de Palos, Diego Valera, president of the Nautical Club Santa Lucia, and David Caro, technical director of the test, who has explained the details of it.

Classic sailboats have been holding events in the mouths of the Port of Cartagena and the Port of Cabo de Palos for more than 150 years, so this trophy seeks to resume this activity and recover the old regatta 'El Vivero', where the fishermen's refuge of the Mar Menor, with these new editions, fulfilling this 2019 the third.

This is why it takes place in the Mar Menor where the 21-span race and boat races were disputed in the past.

The boats of 21 will leave from the club of Santa Lucia to the club of Cabo de Palos, where they will meet together with classes of 33 and 42, which are part of the Latin Sailing Circuit organized by the Sailing Federation of the Region of Murcia , thus joining three classes in the same race course.

According to the trophy program, the class of 21 spans will meet on Saturday at 17 hours and Sunday at 10.30, which will make an Olympic launch launched in which sailors and patrons will have a free navigation in a countdown 5 minutes, all of them looking for the favorable position in that time before departure.

Classes 42 and 33, the largest vessels, will leave on Sunday at 12.30 in the morning also with departure launched.

All three classes will perform the same two-round travel to a triangle.

The base will be held at El Vivero and facilities of the Macián family, which will host the boats and sailors in a reception on Saturday morning, and will be at night when participants and attendees celebrate the meeting with a large barbecue at the La Flamenca beach bar with live music on the beach of El Vivero, and later on Sunday close the events with a cauldron in El Parador del Mar Menor.

Good weather is expected for this weekend, guaranteeing a correct development of all the tests.
