More than 80 people ensure the safety of Cartagena's beaches (23/08/2019)

This Friday, August 23, a rescue drill was held on the Levante beach in Cabo de Palos within the COPLA Rescue Plan, which aims to monitor and rescue the beaches throughout the Region.

All the troops that must act in an emergency situation have participated in it.

He has had the presence of the councilor of the Area of ​​Public Safety, Juan Pedro Torralba, in addition to the Regional Transparency Councilor, Beatriz Ballesteros, along with authorities of the coastal municipalities included in the COPLA Plan.

At the Cartagena level, the Civil Protection team is responsible for the proper development of these bailouts.

"Today's yellow flag has made the drill more complicated and has allowed us to verify that we are prepared to be able to serve any citizen who has a risk," said Juan Pedro Torralba during the intervention.

More than 80 people are responsible for ensuring the protection of the entire coast of Cartagena to deal with any type of incident with a total of 26 rescue posts on the beaches.

This summer is developing with an average of 60-80 daily incidents between consultations, minor injuries and people who need to be helped, although “it is a very positive summer,” continued the mayor, “these drills attest that there is a coordination between the Town Halls and the Autonomous Community ”.

COPLA PLAN

The Surveillance and Rescue Plan in Beaches and Rescue in the Sea of ​​the Region of Murcia (COPLA Plan) this year, which includes eight coastal municipalities, including Cartagena, mobilizes more than 250 people to attend 127 surveillance posts in 76 beaches spread along the entire coastline of the Region.

It also establishes the coordination of the existing means to ensure, in the shortest possible time, the intervention of the means called to take part in the rescue of people on the beaches, in helping boats at sea and in the conservation of the environment. ambient.

VISIT TO THE CABO DE PALOS HQ

Subsequently, Torralba has visited the Headquarters of the Local Police of Cabo de Palos.

This is the first of a series of visits that the councilor plans to make in the coming days to check the status of police facilities in the municipality, in order to budget the necessary items for proper maintenance.
