Every day in August the Roman Theater of Cartagena will bring a story (31/07/2019)

And in August, special opening on Monday 12 and 19 from 10.00 to 20.00.

The month of August begins, the eighth month of our calendar whose name derives from its dedication to Emperor Augustus, the Roman Theater of Cartagena promoted by the emperor himself implements his activity in this month with a good number of routes and thematic visits in collaboration with Cartagena Port of Cultures.

The Roman Theater in summer has an opening hours from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 -20.00h and Sunday from 10.00 to 14.00h.

With special opening in August of Monday 12 and 19 from 10.00 to 20.00h.

The museum tour begins with the Museum, whose entrance is located in the Town Hall Square in front of the City Hall, and involves a journey through time through its exhibition halls that culminates in the unexpected appearance of the imposing grandstand of the Roman Theater.

You can also enjoy this summer the temporary exhibition "Roma Salis" by Lola Montero, an exhibition project of plastic research around the world of salt and its relationship with the history of man.

Not surprisingly, salt was an element of great value in antiquity and one of the resources that Roman writers repeatedly emphasize about Carthago Nova, since they cite that in their surroundings, in addition to mineral, there were nearby salt flats and this allowed them to expand the salt and salting trade.

As well as the exhibition “A History Made Party” organized together with the Federation of Troops and Legions, it aims to bring visitors closer to the most relevant historical moments that are revived at the Carthaginian and Roman Festivals, thousands of people participate every year, since 1990, they revive one of the most important events of the Universal Ancient History, the Second Punic War, taking as a foothold the History and Archeology of Cartagena.

The exhibition allows through explanatory panels and an audiovisual approach to the events held in September.

In addition, the Roman Theater implements its activity for the summer with a good number of routes and themed visits in collaboration with Cartagena Puerto de Culturas.

Tuesdays "Citizens of an Empire."

A guided route from the Museum of the Roman Theater, which will follow through the Barrio del Foro Romano, and end at Casa Roman de la Fortuna.

On Wednesdays a family activity “Theatrum: spend an afternoon of theater”.

Participants will be able to know Roman society through the theater, its religion and politics, how were the great show buildings in the Roman Empire;

the types of works that were represented or the people who acted in them.

The activity and visit to the Roman Museum and Theater of Cartagena, will be at 6.30pm.

On Thursdays there will be the guided route “Cartagena Tres Culturas”.

This route will reveal the medieval history and the confluence of the three cultures: Christian, Jewish and Muslim.

It will begin in the Panoramic Elevator, arriving at the Castle of the Conception, from where the whole city can be seen.

The visit will continue along the Church of Santa Mara la Mayor until you reach the Museum of the Roman Theater.

On Fridays there will be a trip “From Qart Hadast to Carthago Nova”.

The route begins in the Punic Wall that Asdrbal Barca raised, and conquered Publio Cornelio Escipin, until Carthago Nova;

A journey through everyday life with a visit to the House of Fortune and the great show building, the Roman Theater, built in Augustus' time and dedicated to his grandsons Cayo and Lucio.

On Saturday, August 10 and 24, the theatrical route "Romans around the world: destination Carthago Nova" will take place.

A theatrical route full of winks and humor capsules where we will visit the most important sites, meeting different characters to tell us how their life has been in Carthago Nova.

The "Virtual visit to the Roman Theater of Cartagena: New Experiences" will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6:30 pm.

A guided visit to the Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena with virtual reality that will allow you to immerse yourself, through virtual glasses, in the old building.

You can visualize the theater in 360 degrees as it was at the time, fly over it or see a little pampering of the time.
