The Corporation will hold on Thursday its first full organizative of the legislature (10/07/2019)

The Cartagena City Council Corporation will hold its first resolution meeting on Thursday after taking office on June 15.

Chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, in it, as required by law, will be adopted organizational agreements such as retributions and regime of councilors;

the periodicity of the sessions and the informative commissions of the plenary.

Socialist councilor Mercedes García will also take office, replacing Manuel Mora who resigned.

The proposed remunerations represent an update of the existing ones so far, since they are the same approved in 2015, which had not experienced any type of revaluation to ipc since then.

That is why it is proposed to update it by 5.75 percent, which is the rise experienced during this time by the salaries of municipal public employees.

The salary of the councilors will not experience increases and will remain frozen during the next four years of the legislature.

In this way the gross annual remuneration of the mayor will be 68,749 euros;

the deputy mayor, the municipal spokespersons and the area councilors will charge a gross of 61,338 euros per year;

the councilors of the government and those of the opposition with exclusive dedication who are not spokesmen or councilors of area, will have a gross annual salary of 50,406 euros.

In addition a figure of councilor of the Government with partial dedication is created in the case of Mercedes García (retired) and Carlos Piñaña (active professor), who will charge 75 percent and 50 percent of the salaries respectively.

The rest of the councilors of the opposition without exclusive dedication will have a gross annual salary of 13,497 euros.

The total amount of the councilors' remuneration will amount to 1,214,321.50 euros;

280,759, 54 more than the last legislature.

Its explanation is in the increase of the municipal groups, which go from five to six, and the number of councilors of the Government, which goes from six to 14.

As for the periodicity of the ordinary sessions of the plenary session, it will be proposed that it be monthly: the last Thursday of each month.

The plenary will also approve the informative commissions in which the matters of its competence will be studied and prepared.

The main novelty of this legislature will be the unfolding of the old Commission of Urbanism, Infrastructure and Environment.

In this way, there will be a Finance and Interior Information Commission, which will be chaired by the councilor of the area, Esperanza Nieto;

another of Urbanism and Medio Abiente, presided by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón;

another one of Infrastructures, presided over by the councilwoman of the area, María Casajús;

and the special accounts, chaired by the councilor Alejandra Gutiérrez;

and Suggestions and Complaints, chaired by the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín.
