Playa Paraíso hosts a solidarity journey to fight Multiple Sclerosis (10/07/2019)

This Sunday, July 14, Playa Paraíso hosts the X edition of the Solidarity Crossing of the Mar Menor.

This sporting event is part of the 'Get Wet for Multiple Sclerosis' initiative that is held in 900 beaches and swimming pools throughout Spain.

From 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., there will be 600 and 1,500 meter races, informative stands and beach t-shirts and bags commemorating the event.

This solidarity journey is organized by the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Cartagena and Region and has the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Sports of the City of Cartagena and the Swimming Federation of the Region of Murcia.

Registration costs 12 euros and is done through this link.

This Wednesday, July 10, the solidarity test was presented by the deputy mayor and councilor of Social Welfare and Sports of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, the president of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Cartagena and District Angeles Ros Aguirre and the president of the Swimming Federation of the Region of Murcia Ricardo Martínez Lorca.

IMPROVE VISIBILITY AND SOCIAL SENSITIVITY

The deputy mayor of Cartagena and edil of Social Welfare and Sports, Noelia Arroyo, has highlighted the double playful and sporty aspect of the event, "but above all is a way to get the attention of all Cartagena and all those who move from the rest of the Region about a disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and the needs of people who suffer from it. "

The deputy mayor has praised on the other hand the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Cartagena and Region and especially its president, who gives informative talks about the disease in schools and colleges.

Noelia Arroyo also recalled that the City of Cartagena has a Municipal Disability Plan and a Commission on Accessibility as social tools to address the problems of people affected by some type of disease.

450 SICK IN CARTAGENA

The president of the Association of Multiple Sclerosis of Cartagena and District, Ángeles Ros Aguirre, explained that with this test is confident to publicize the work done in the group and get cash for physiotherapy services, rehabilitation, social care and psychological

Ángles Ros has ensured that Multiple Sclerosis affects more women than men.

In addition, it has many symptoms: pain, fatigue, vision problems, walking ...

Also highlighted is a degenerative disease that affects about 55,000 people in Spain.

According to Ángeles Ros, in Cartagena there are 450 affected by Multiple Sclerosis.

TWO TESTS

For his part, the president of the Swimming Federation of the Region of Murcia, Ricardo Martínez Lorca, has indicated that this X Solidarity Crossing of the Mar Menor is one of the eight tests of the Regional Open Water Circuit.

In this test there will be two races: one of 600 meters and another of 1,500.

The race of 600 meters will be for the prebenjamín, benjamín and alevín categories.

The one of 1,500 meters of length will be destined to participants of infantile, junior, absolute and of master categories.
