The City of Cartagena is updated on the new requirements and specifications of playgrounds (28/06/2019)

Cartagena is one of the municipalities with the highest ratio of children's games and of bio-healthy elements (more than 350 areas).

However, they are generally small areas and very distributed in a municipal area of more than 558 km².

The evaluation of the safety, design, inspection, installation and maintenance of the children's games have been some of the issues that have been addressed this Friday, June 28, in the Update Day of the Technical Regulations of Children's Areas, made by the Instituto Tecnológico de Producto Infantil e Ocio AIJU, entity accredited by the AENAC to certify playgrounds, in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Gardens of the City of Cartagena, and inaugurated by the Councilor for Urban Services and Projects, Juan Pedro Torralba,

The objectives of the day, aimed at staff related to playgrounds, is to know the preventive measures of accidents, the requirements in the purchase and correct installation of playgrounds, the novelties of the UNE-EN technical regulation and identify the legislation applicable.

Held in the Artillery Park, has had the presence of the delegate councilor of Urban Services and Projects, Juan Pedro Torralba, who has indicated that "from the City of Cartagena is going to put in place a new regulation to regulate playgrounds" .

Except in Galicia and Andalusia (where there is regional legislation), the technical regulations (EN-1176 and EN-1177) are only of reference when an accident occurs.

Juan Pedro Torralba recalled the accident of Jessica, a girl who died on a swing.

It should be recalled that in 2015, the Ombudsman stressed that a mandatory standard had not been issued for companies that bid for projects linked to the world of children, and it was those same manufacturers and installers of playgrounds that had been claiming for a long time. legislation that would be common in all the Spanish autonomies and town halls.

The delegate councilor of Urban Services and Projects has stressed the success of this day as it is "a meeting point between the different municipalities and municipalities of the Region of Murcia to know the different projects that are being carried out in relation to the areas of children's games ".
