The magazine'Naturally connected' highlights the natural values of Bolnuevo and warns of the risk of fires and plastic damage (25/06/2019)

The new issue of the digital magazine 'Naturally connected', corresponding to the summer season, highlights among its contents the natural values of the Gredas de Bolnuevo that has just been declared a Natural Monument.

This space, of 2.41 hectares, is included in the inventory of Geological Interest Places of the Region due to its geological importance, as well as having a great richness and diversity of flora and fauna that have led it to become a refuge for species like the peregrine falcon, the owl or the turtle.

The publication also warns of the risk of forest fires during the summer months, informing about the plan designed by the regional government to combat them (Plan Infomur), and sensitizing readers about what they must do to prevent them.

In terms of awareness and protection of natural spaces, this edition of 'Naturally Connected' analyzes the damage caused by plastics in the environment, and particularly in the marine environment, and explains the main lines of the strategy designed by the Directorate General of Natural Environment to make visitors aware of how to avoid their presence in protected natural spaces.

The General Director of Medio Medio, Consuelo Rosauro, stressed that this magazine, which is published on a seasonal basis, "has been consolidated as a tool for disseminating the environmental values and natural wealth of the Region. Summer is a time of greater influx of visitors, the publication focuses on some fundamental aspects of the conservation of the beaches and coastal ecosystems of the Region, "said Consuelo Rosauro.

In this sense, another of the sections of the magazine shows some of the birds and marine animals that can be seen on our coasts and explains how to act in case of finding a stranded cetacean, a turtle on the beach or a bird entangled with nets fishing or affected by the ingestion of plastics.

In the interview, the head of the Wild Fauna Recovery Center El Valle, María José Gens, explains the day-to-day activity of a center that only last year received a total of 2,632 specimens of birds, mammals or reptiles and of those that were recovered and returned to the natural environment more than 40 percent.

In the section 'The environmental agents tell you', the summer issue analyzes the increase in populations of Griffon vulture, a species that was about to disappear from the skies of the Region and that last year reached already 200 couples breeders from which came 180 chickens.

To escape the heat of summer nights, the publication proposes a nocturnal getaway to observe the stars and the sky from different points of the Region such as Inazares, the Calnegre and Cabo Cope Regional Park, the Monte Arabí or the Sierra de Carrascoy.

The magazine also has other sections to disseminate the natural values of the Region in an entertaining and educational way, such as 'The field notebook', which explains how to act in case of finding a baby bird fallen from its nest or the 'Diverospacio' ', where activities, hobbies and even a summer recipe are offered.

At the end, in the section 'Click and download', the latest digital materials available on natural areas of the Region are collected.

'Naturally connected' is a publication aimed at all audiences and with a periodicity is seasonal, so it adapts its contents to each season of the year in which it is published.

This publication can be consulted in the section 'Naturally connected' of the website www.murcianatural.carm.es and is also distributed by email to those people listed in the list of 'friends' of the Protected Natural Spaces, in addition to being edited some copies on paper that are distributed in the visitor centers of the regional parks.
