The Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena inaugurates the exhibition'Roma Salis' by Lola Montero (25/06/2019)

The Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena inaugurates on Thursday, June 27 at 8 pm, the exhibition 'Roma Salis' by Lola Montero.

It is an exhibition project of plastic research around the world of salt and its relationship with the history of man.

Not in vain the salt was an element of great value in Antiquity and one of the resources that repeatedly emphasize the Roman writers on Carthago Nova, because they mention that in its surroundings, besides mineral, there were nearby salt works and this allowed them to expand the trade in salt and salted fish.

The artist uses as a source of study and inspiration the open spaces of the salt pans, and shows with her brushes the subtle trace of man in the landscape, drawing the simple channel that leads the water to the ponds or the humble pump house that guarantees the water supply necessary for its exploitation.

In the exhibition Roma Salis, Lola Montero, with its fabrics and papers, brings us this saline coastal landscape with all its color palette, so the varied range of blues, ocher or whitish, intermingles with the vertical architectures and their shadows, creating a harmonious symphony between the natural landscape and the landscape built by man.

The exhibition is inaugurated in the Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena, with a work that introduces us fully into this eternal journey of salt and establishes a beautiful dialogue between the ancient world and contemporary works.
