This Thursday, June 6, Tomás Vicente Martínez will be at the Josefina Soria del Luzzy Library to present his book 'Abonico.

Stories of whispered repression 'in an act that will start at 8:00 p.m.

Will be accompanied by Josefina Pérez, vice president of the Association of Historical Memory of Cartagena, a collective that organizes the event, framed within the program Read, Think and Imagine the Department of Culture of the City.

About the book

Abonico (localism that means to speak in a low voice, in a whisper) is a book of stories about "the whispered repression, which the victims of the victors of the Spanish Civil War suffered in silence or in a low voice during the Franco dictatorship.

From literary fiction, based on the memories of oral memory, it offers a sample of the repression suffered by men and women categorized as enemies by the Franco regime;

enemies that should be subdued through fear.

It is a collection of fourteen stories inspired by facts and real people about postwar repression, that subtler repression, from day to day, from insult, humiliation, hunger, fear.

They are hard stories, treated with sensitivity, in which the atmosphere, the feeling, the emotions of the protagonist victims of these stories are reconstructed from literary fiction.

Jail, beatings, exile, hunger, humiliations, broken hopes, whispered dreams.

The fourteen stories that make up Abonico are inspired by people and real events.

About the Author

Tomás Vicente Martínez Campillo (San Miguel de Salinas, 1957).

He is a writer of poetry, novel and stories.

In 2007 he began his literary career with "El Sitio" a novel about urban corruption.

Later, in 2011 he writes a book of poems in support of a young woman held against her will in the Sahara entitled "Melankoría" (Costa Literaria Ediciones).

In 2013 he wrote novels and published a novel about a family history in the context of the Civil War and entitled "This will be my flag" (Red Circle).

In 2017 he published a novel set in the twentieth century in the ongoing social struggles in defense of the river Segura and the garden.

This novel takes the title of "Safe" (Malbec Editions).

In 2018 he publishes two books of stories: "Abonico.

Stories of whispered repression "(Editorial Pluma Verde) and" 15 Holes "(Malbec Editions).
