Special traffic bulletin from June 3 to 9 to detect alcohol and drugs in drivers (31/05/2019)

The Local Police of Cartagena will carry out, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic, from the 3rd to the 9th of June, a monitoring and control campaign for alcohol and drugs while driving, in the municipality of Cartagena.

The Road Safety Law is very strict regarding the use of narcotics, therefore, prohibits driving with the presence of drugs in the body, although substances that are used under medical prescription and for therapeutic purposes are excluded.

The Criminal Code provides for drivers who circulate under the influence of alcoholic beverages, toxic drugs, narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, prison terms of three to six months, fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community of thirty-one to ninety days, and, in any case, that of deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for more than one and up to four years.

The Road Safety Law, the General Circulation Regulations and the Criminal Code establish the regulations applicable to the generic and specific maximum limits of alcohol allowed during driving, where non-compliance with these rules is classified as a serious or very serious offense, withdrawn from the driving license and prison sentence.

Alcohol is present as a concurrent or triggering factor in one third of fatal accidents.

Your presence in driving depending on your rate, multiplies between 2 and 15 the risk of suffering an accident.
