Ten candidacies will compete on Sunday in the municipal elections of Cartagena (23/05/2019)

Ten candidates will compete next Sunday, May 26, to get the maximum number of councilors, of the 27 that make up its municipal Corporation of the City of Cartagena.

It is about the candidacies of Citizens;

Citizen Movement of Cartagena;

Spanish Socialist Worker's Party;

United We Can Left United-Green Equo;

Cantonal Party;

Real Equality;

We are Region;

Popular Party;

With You We are Democracy;

and Vox.

The electoral census of the municipality of Cartagena for these elections, which coincide with the regional and European, consists 153,666 people (78,790 women and 74,876 men) who may exercise their right to vote in 259 tables located in 95 buildings distributed by the municipality, most educational centers.

With respect to the last municipal elections held in 2015, the census increased by 1,091 voters.

POPULATION ENTITIES

By entities of population: the one of greater number of electors is the one of Urban helmet of Cartagena with 43,197 electors.

CENSUS FOR AGES

By age, between 30 and 50 years old, there are 56,881 voters;

between 51 and 70 years, 48,575;

over 70 years of age there are 25,334;

and under 30, 22,876.

It also highlights the fact that 49 of the voters listed in the census are 100 years or older.

7,969 young people will vote for the first time in a municipal election in Cartagena, after reaching their majority since May 2015.

1,081 FOREIGNERS

As for foreigners residing in the municipality, in these elections may vote the 1,081 who have requested it.

These are nationals of member countries of the European Union or countries outside the EU with which there is an agreement of reciprocity.

Specifically, they will be 515 from the United Kingdom, 83 from France, 75 from Romania, 74 from Germany;

59 from Italy;

40 from the Netherlands;

31 from Bulgaria;

30 from Ecuador;

23 from Belgium;

21 from Bolivia;

20 from Sweden;

19 from Portugal;

16 from Colombia;

14 from Lithuania;

13 from Poland;

8 from Hungary;

7 from Denmark;

7 from Ireland;

7 from Paraguay;

3 from Slovakia;

2 from Peru;

2 from Norway 2;

and 1 from Nueva Zelanada.

PARTICIPATION

The average participation rate of the ten previous municipal elections has been 58.75%.

The largest participation in municipal elections was recorded in 1995, with 66.36% and the lowest, in 1991, with 52.77%.

In the municipal passes of May 2015 was 57.72%.

On the other hand, the highest participation registered in the municipality of Cartagena in a poll was in 1982, in the Generals, in which 82.70% of the electoral census voted;

while in the general past of April 28, it was 72.14 percent.

STATISTICS OPENS ON SUNDAY

The Statistics Bureau of the City of Cartagena located in the municipal building of the Ronda de La Union Avenue will open to the public on Sunday from eight in the morning to eight in the afternoon to process the applications of the voters that when voting check that they do not appear or appear with errors in the tables lists.

The municipal officials will collect these requests, according to the standardized model, and send them via fax to the Provincial Statistics Delegation, which will resolve them and provide the corresponding certification that allows the affected citizens to exercise their right to vote.

These certifications will be issued to voters who appear on the electoral roll and are not found by any type of error in the tables lists.

They will also be issued to voters who filed a claim for exclusion during the last census presentation and still do not appear on the lists;

or the voters who observe errors in the identification data when voting.

CONSULTATION OF TABLES THROUGH THE WEB

Citizens who at the time of voting do not know the place assigned to do so may consult it through the City Council website, through the banner located on the main page.

To do this you must enter your ID and your date of birth;

and you will immediately get the table and the address of it.

The 259 polling stations will be constituted at eight in the morning with the attendance of the presidents and members chosen by lot.

Voting will begin at nine in the morning and end at eight in the afternoon.

THE LOCAL POLICE STAFF COMPLETE

All available staff of the Local Police of Cartagena will be on service on Sunday, May 26, to collaborate with the National Police and Civil Guard in the security of the polling stations;

and attend the ordinary services of a Sunday.

192 municipal employees will also collaborate in the development of the elections, coordinated by the Government Delegation.

20 of them will be dedicated to the assembly of the tables, 53 to the conditioning, opening and closing of the premises and 107 to collect the participation and scrutiny data that will serve to offer the election results that same night.

As a novelty this year the representatives of the administration will have two terminals to transmit in one the results of the scrutiny of the autonomic ones and another one for the European and municipal ones.
