Through the Portal of Transparency, the City of Cartagena has been included as a publisher in the open data portal of the Region of Murcia.
This web portal includes reusable data demanded by citizens and included in the most relevant data sets according to the recommendations of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities.
With this action, the data of the City of Cartagena will be federated with the national portal (datos.gob.es) giving them visibility worldwide.
Open Data
Open Data is a global initiative that seeks to ensure that data and information, especially that held by public administrations, are available to all citizens.
In the case of Administrations, data are made available to citizens (understood as both natural and legal persons) for free, without limitations of access or license, copyright or patent.
The purpose of the open data is twofold:
On the one hand, the publication of these data allows both citizens and companies to use them for consultation, to enrich them with new data or to generate applications and services with it.
All this allows, ultimately, generate knowledge, economic activity, growth and employment.
On the other, following the philosophy of Open Data is also the need to provide greater transparency to all Public Administrations and therefore this initiative is linked to Open Government policies.
In this way, the publication of data held by Administrations in open formats is the best way to build trust in institutions, thanks both to the transparency that this brings to the system, and to the public exposure of the work in which they invest. public resources.
