The PCAN proposes that a social worker help the elderly at home for two hours (16/05/2019)

Concern for the elderly.

The Cantonal Party of Cartagena collects in the social action section of its electoral program the assistance of a social worker for two hours every two days to those elderly people with family uprooting who live alone in their home.

The employee hired by the City Council would assist these elderly people in tasks such as cleaning, preparing food or buying.

This measure pursues that those retired people, still with an important personal autonomy and whose children remain all the day in the work, continue in their house of all the life, instead of their entrance in a residence with the consequent expenses of both the family as of the Administration in those centers of public ownership.

In the opinion of the candidate for mayor and general secretary of the PCAN, Celestino García Alfaro, this proposal "has very little cost for the public coffers since the social workers would go very little time to these elders' homes and the cases in which the rest of the family unit present full full-time employment are quite exceptional. "

Thanks to actions of this type, Cartagena people who meet these requirements maintain their quality of life despite their advanced age as they live in a close and friendly environment.

"The uprooting is perhaps the main problem of our elders", adds García Alfaro.

In this way, the City of Cartagena would complete a social action in the sector of the elderly population with a program similar to that of other cities such as Murcia, Bilbao or Vitoria.
