Pedro Zerolo was one of the most important LGBT activists in the History of Spain, as well as one of the main promoters of the expansion of the right to marriage and the adoption of homosexual couples in the country.

He is also considered an icon of the LGBT community in Spain.

He is still present through the Foundation that bears his name, presided over by his widower and that follows the line of work that Pedro started.

On 17 May, the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia will be celebrated in Cartagena to commemorate the elimination of homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses by the General Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO) , which took place that same day, in 1990.

Cartagena wants to join in this way to Berlin, New York, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Valencia as LGTBIQ friendly city.

For this, the City of Cartagena, through the Department of Equality, in collaboration with the collective Galactyco, have prepared a series of activities to denounce the discrimination against homosexual, bisexual and transgender people and to advance their rights in all the world.
