The City Council offers the CARM all the facilities for the cession of the lands of the ZAL (08/05/2019)

The City of Cartagena is giving all the facilities to the Autonomous Community so that the Franco Warehouse can be moved as soon as possible to the Logistics Activity Zone (ZAL), in Los Camachos.

In fact, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has offered the Community the possibility of giving the Town Council the right of reversion on more land, instead of paying the price difference between the current land and those that will be occupied in Los Camachos .

The City Council has renounced its right of reversion of four thousand square meters of land, reaching the agreement that its right of reversion on the grounds of the Integral Transportation Center will be transferred to the land it will occupy in Los Camachos, that is, around 37,000 square meters, instead of the 41,000 that, according to the assessment of the technicians, would correspond to him.

Also, in the meeting on the ZAL that has been held this afternoon it has been clear that the new Integral Transportation Center must be finished in the next 3 years.

If so, in 2028 the right of reversion of the City Council would be extinguished.

In case it has not been built, this right would be extinguished in 2022.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, stressed that she will not "allow the regional government to come to Cartagena and Cartagena businessmen to give us lessons of speed.

Nobody has to put the batteries in town planning or business development in Cartagena.

We have shown with numbers that without the tools that depended on the regional government, Cartagena has grown with more business, more ICIO, the unlocking of the Rambla Plan and many other actions, and so it will continue to be.

We have put everything on our part for the transfer of this land and we have shown it. "

The City Council assigned to the Institute of Development (INFO), under the CARM, on October 9, 1998, 19,561 square meters for the installation of the Integral Transportation Center in the vicinity of Santa Lucia, with the condition that, if before 30 years varied its use, said land would revert to the City Council.

To facilitate the transfer to the ZAL, the City Council considered that the most feasible is to transfer the right of reversion to the new soils of the ZAL.

However, the price difference between current and future land is considerable.

Those currently occupying the Franco Warehouse, which will belong to the Port Authority, have been assessed at 22 euros per square meter, while those at Los Camachos cost 10 euros per square meter.

To prevent the Community from paying the price difference, the City Council has offered the possibility of extending its right to revert to more land.

In this way, the CARM does not have to increase its investment, the City Council is not harmed by this operation and the Integral Transportation Center will be able to move with all the facilities, as explained by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, at the meeting of the table of the ZAL that has been celebrated this afternoon in the Palace of Aguirre.
