Citizens includes gastronomic tourism in its plan to combat the growing depopulation in Cartagena (06/05/2019)

Citizens has announced that it will boost gastronomic tourism, and that it will be one of the lines of work included in the strategic plan, "as recommended by the World Tourism Organization, this kind of tourism strategy is very effective in promoting local economic growth and curb depopulation because of its potential to empower the most vulnerable profiles. "

The Cs project will be presented to Hostecar, among other groups linked to the sector in Cartagena and its region in the coming days and is inspired by the guide prepared by the WTO to all tourist destinations that want to place gastronomy as a fundamental pillar of its competitiveness in the sector.

The Cs candidate for mayor of Cartagena has attended the meeting in Mazarrón on "Tourism and gastronomy in rural areas" framed in the project RED (Rural, Meetings for Development) developed by the Campoder Local Action Group and in which different proposals related to gastronomy have been analyzed as a tourist attraction.

For Manuel Padín, "demographic depopulation or regression is not only a problem of State, as alerted the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, it also exists in our peripheral populations and even in some neighborhoods and interior deputies, so It makes necessary the development of effective policies that help the recovery of those areas with worse socioeconomic indexes ".

In addition to gastronomic tourism, Ciudadanos has prepared one of the most ambitious plans that have been made in Spain to reverse the depopulation in Cartagena, "first with the socioeconomic diagnosis, second, with the design of budgets oriented to the priorities and the recovery of the more abandoned areas, and third with a specific shock plan against depopulation that will include strong fiscal incentives for the implementation of companies in needy population centers, the optimization of the collection of regional and European help lines to clean and rehabilitate housing, jobs of intermediation to resuscitate commercial activity, new inventories and empty housing stock exchanges, the closure of the territorial digital divide through the Smart City project, the extension of access to banking services in rural areas, the promotion of day care services of proximity, medical telecare and telefarmacia in the z

where travel is difficult and expensive, and improvements in public transport.

The Liberal spokesman believes that "initiatives such as the Campoder group, which seek to strengthen and consolidate the feeling of belonging to the rural environment are very necessary and positive, and public representatives should promote and promote them."
