The Regional Heritage will be studied at the "San Isidoro" School of El Algar in the XIII Semana de Las Letras (29/03/2019)

The "San Isidoro" is a reference.

It is not surprising that this school of the Cartagena de El Algar has been recognized, as its director, Olga Catasús, on several occasions, both at the regional and state level, always highlighting the creativity of its initiatives to improve the teaching of students and the participation of the entire educational community.

Throughout the year the kids, the parents and the teachers carry out enthusiastically share numerous artistic, theatrical, musical, literary and festive activities that help in the integral education of the students.

In this school they do not limit themselves to "follow the book", but they work for projects, using a more complex but more enriching methodology, and this is noted in that they improve the academic results and the good school climate.

The week of the letters

In the month of April, around the Book Day, this school celebrates a whole week full of cultural activities.

Every year they choose a theme: The Stories, Cervantes, Science Fiction, The Sea, The Cinema, The Far East ... Last year they dedicated the week to the verses of Gloria Fuertes and this year will revolve around the Cultural, artistic, landscape heritage and historical of our Region.

During the preceding weeks, the school is preparing: the hallways and classrooms are decorated, as if it were a huge theatrical stage or a film set, always in line with the chosen theme, in such a way that other years, when one entered through the door, moved to a forest, to the submarine of Captain Nemo or to the house of Don Quixote and the fields of La Mancha.

In the coming days, the school will be filled with a whole compendium of monuments, landscapes, festivals and customs of the Region of Murcia and the Campo de Cartagena.

Art, party and workshops

Each Letters Week is full of attractive activities for the whole educational community: exhibitions, concerts, talks, dances, conferences, theatrical performances, screenings, various workshops, storytelling, etc.

The school is attended by artists, writers and specialists in the topics covered.

Everything begins with the hoisting, in the yard, of a giant sign that, like a flag, indicates that in this school exceptional things will happen during the next days.

On this occasion the poster has been made by the Cartagena artist Javier Lorente, which has reflected monuments, landscapes, and emblematic motifs of the heritage of the region: The sea, the Latin sail, the lighthouse of Cabo de Palos, the monastery of San Ginés de la Jara, the cisterns, palm trees, windmills, traditional music and even the protected caverneras (jigueros) of the area.

From April 8 to 12, the "San Isidoro" School of El Algar will have the presence of the "Ditirambo" Theater Group, by José Ortas Cayuela, which will represent "Berberiscos de Palos".

Numerous writers will also come to participate in a Book Fair that will take place in the courtyard and children can participate in meetings with authors such as Lola Gutiérrez who will talk about the sinking of El Sirio, or Diego Quevedo, who will speak about Isaac Peral.

Among the workshops we must highlight the novelty this year of one on traditional games.

The classic said that nothing better than to teach delighting, and that we have to thank schools such as San Isidoro de El Algar.
