The Campus of Los Dolores organizes a day to spread the Holy Week of Cartagena among students from other locations (29/03/2019)

The UCAM promotes an initiative so that its international students and other provinces know the characteristics of the processions of Cartagena with talks and round tables with the presence of the four brotherhoods, as well as visits to the churches that host the sculptural groups that process.

The Department of Religious Sciences of the Catholic University has organized for Monday, April 8 at the Campus of Los Dolores a day with which the UCAM intends to make known to students the uniqueness of the Holy Week in Cartagena, which collaborates every year.

Specifically, the program includes an approximation to the historical context of the foundation of the passionate brotherhoods and the characteristics of the Cartagena processions (their martial music, their flower and their order), so that representatives of the Marrajos, Californios, Socorro and Resurrected explain the identity of their brotherhoods and each of their processions.

In the afternoon, a visit to the main churches linked with Holy Week has been organized, such as Santa María de Gracia, Santo Domingo or La Caridad, so that they can better understand the context and the main images and sculptural groups that can be enjoyed in the processions.

Although the day is open to the population in general, with it the UCAM intends that students who are not from the city have in their localities the idiosyncrasies of the Holy Week in Cartagena and encourage students, their families and friends to that they know how the week of passion for Cartagena is staged.
