AUGC has already denounced the regrettable state of the Civil Guard quartering in Cartagena (27/03/2019)

This quartering dates from the sixties, being at the time one of the largest in the Region and the national territory, houses the official dependencies of different units of the Civil Guard as the Citizen Security Post, the Traffic Detachment, the Service Maritime Provincial, Judicial Police, Seprona, Underwater Activities, etc.

It also has a hundred houses inhabited by the civil guards with their families, there is a very high level of occupation and waiting list when one is vacated

With the exception of the reconstruction of a building on the occasion of the terrorist attack in 1990, no important structural reforms have been carried out since its construction and, what is more serious, the necessary maintenance works have not been carried out so that said quartering is in adequate conditions. so that the civil guards can carry out their work in good conditions and what is even worse in conditions of habitability for the guards and their families who live in the more than 100 houses of the quartering.

Among the labor needs are the lack of space in the offices and the need for new offices for the different units, mainly for the Citizen Security Post.

From AUGC we have proposed that new offices be made in the old cafeteria that is currently inactive for several years, but so far no project has been carried out.

It is also urgent and necessary to expand and adapt the changing rooms of both the Traffic Detachment and the Citizen Security Post.

THE BUILDINGS OF THE QUARTEL BEGIN TO GIVE SIGNALS OF RUINA

In official housing investment is simply zero, are apartments with measures (about 60 square meters) and materials of the 60s, so that currently suffer from many needs.

Hot water installations, kitchen furniture and bathroom fixtures must be renewed urgently due to their age and deterioration.

The electrical installation of the whole quartering must be renewed and adapted to the current regulations.

At the moment the entry porticos of the buildings, the cornices superiors and some corbels or terraces have degraded so much that they have begun to fall to the ground and even threaten landslide.

In this way, many of the porticos have had to be propped up and areas with the risk of falling cornices have to be delimited.

AUGC DEMANDS A PLAN FOR URBAN CARTAGENA WARNING AND FIXING DEADLINES.

-

From AUGC we demand that an urgent structural reform of the entire cantonment be made or that the construction of a new modern quartering and with the necessary facilities and housing be considered.

In this regard, we applaud the visit of the Secretary of State for Security, Ms. Ana Botella and the current Government Delegate, Mr. Diego Conesa, and we hope that he will not be left alone in a photograph in the period close to the elections and good words, but in the drafting of the construction project of a new quartering.

For all this we request that the commissioning of the construction project of a new cantonment be carried out as a matter of urgency, that upcoming and real deadlines be set, that the steps for the acquisition of the plot and the start date of construction begin, of course we request that We are officially notified to all representative associations of civil guards.

Otherwise it would be an advertisement, without actually completing any project as currently happens with the Commandery of Alicante that has been waiting for 30 years to build a new quartering or already in the Mazarrón cantonment region that has more than 20 years of delay in the construction of a new one, even if the site where it is to be built has not yet been designated.

AUGC is the dean of the professional associations and the majority in the Council of the Civil Guard, having an affiliation superior to 50 percent of the staff of the Civil Guard in the Region of Murcia.

It has representation throughout the Spanish territory, in each of the units and specialties of the Corps and has been leading the associative movement since the arrival of democracy, when it was born as a clandestine union.

His struggle for the democratization of the institution earned him in 2010 the National Human Rights Award granted by the Association for Human Rights of Spain (APDHE).
