Cs asks for explanations for the study that concludes the increase in mortality due to the transfer of patients with a heart attack (25/03/2019)

- Citizens have contrasted the information revealed by the Cantonal Party and demands the urgent convocation of the Area II Health Council so that the authors of the study explain their conclusions and so that the policy makers announce the measures that will be taken as a result

Citizens today requested the convocation of the Area II Health Council so that, among other issues, the study signed by the head of the Cardiology service and the head of the Hemodynamics section concludes that the transfer to the ICU mobile of patients of Area II with myocardial infarction to the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca from Cartagena, because they occur outside the part-time of the Haemodynamic Unit, significantly increases the mortality levels with respect to those treated in the Hospital St. lucia.

On the occasion of this information, revealed two days ago by the Cantonal Party, the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, said that "the first thing we did in Cs after reading that statement was to confirm the existence of this study in the official publication of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and to consult the abstract of the investigation and effectively, it corresponds with the information offered by this political party ".

In this sense, according to Manuel Padín, does not contribute precisely to the tranquility of the population that has as reference the Hospital Santa Lucia, a spokesman of this center declares that he has been surprised that this information has been made public because they have not been officially presented the results of the investigation ".

For all of these reasons, Ciudadanos has sent a request for an invitation to both the President of the Area II Health Council, José Sedes, and his Group in the Regional Assembly, and he reminds that, according to the operating and organizational regime of the Council, it must meet with ordinary character once every six months and with extraordinary character when it is decided by its president on his own initiative or at the request of at least one third of its members.

"The people of Cartagena have the right to know not only what the Health Minister, Manuel Villegas, thinks about this, but above all if the Ministry plans to have a 24-hour Hemodynamics service in Cartagena in view of this investigation", says Manuel Padín. defends that "even if this documentation did not exist, an area that serves a population of almost 300,000 requires a hemodynamic service to improve the response in such serious cases" and recalls that "in 2016 this Management committed to the City of Cartagena and with the Platform in Defense of Public Health Save the Rosell to study the restructuring of the schedule to make possible an uninterrupted schedule, "in fact they came to say that they had 'a lot of interest', but more than two years after this commitment and This supposed interest, the service remains closed in the evenings, at night, on weekends, and during holidays. "

6 General of Health establishes as a principle the need for the Autonomous Communities to adjust in the exercise of their competences in health matters to criteria of democratic participation.

In this sense, it determines that the articulation of such participation must be carried out through the creation of the Health Council, "the last session of the council of Area II was on July 13, 2017," says Padín, who understands that "this is the forum that should channel a historical claim shared by all political groups. "

"The Community has to comply with its word," when the promises have to do with the health of the people, its fulfillment must be sacred and the transparency in the knowledge of reports that concern the citizens and their health an obligation, "concludes Manuel Padín.
