The Industrial School of the UPCT organizes the 1st Conference on Manufacturing Technologies, which will bring together specialists in coating technologies and composite materials (25/03/2019)

The Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering (ETSII) of the UPCT, has organized the 1st Conference on Manufacturing Technologies: "Coating technologies and composite materials", which will include a total of four sessions that will take place between Monday 25 and Thursday March 28 and will be dedicated to analyzing the latest advances and future trends in relation to coating technologies and composite materials, which represent an important field within the productive technologies and present great advantages for the manufacture of engineering products subject to high external solicitations.

"In many cases the faults that originate in the manufactured parts take place on the surface, so the use of specific coatings with great resistance is an excellent technical solution, while in other cases the ideal solution is to resort to the use of composite materials in order to strengthen the load capacity of these products in specific areas or decrease the weight of the piece ", explains José Andrés Moreno, professor of the Department of Mechanics, Materials and Manufacturing of the School of Industrialists of Cartagena .

In these days will be true specialists in these fields such as Professor Andreas Killinger, who will come from the University of Stuttgart (Germany) to explain the projects being developed in their research group, Venancio Martínez García, former student of the School of Industriales de Cartagena and currently hired as assistant professor at the University of Stuttgart, and José Andrés Moreno Nicolás, professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Manufacturing of the School of Industrialists of the UPCT.

Pedro Miguel Martínez Mateo, Director of Technology Transfer at Paudire, and Antonio Sánchez Terol and Noelia González Morales, who are developing their doctoral thesis at the UPCT within the doctoral program of Industrial Technologies, will also participate.

In addition, Patricio Franco, Director of the School of Industrialists of Cartagena and professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Manufacturing of this university center will participate in the round table included in the fourth session of these conferences.

"All those professionals who wish to broaden their knowledge of the interesting field of coating tencologies and composite materials, can attend these conferences organized by the Industrial School, which are free of charge and do not require prior registration. conferences are aimed at students of the different degrees of the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the UPCT as well as other members of the university community, public officials, professionals and the general public, "says Patricio Franco, Director of the School of Industrial of Cartagena.

Among the topics to be addressed is the description of the coating technologies and especially the thermal spray processes, PMC, MMC and CMC composites for advanced applications, the modeling of composite materials, the modeling of ceramic coverings, the monitoring of the process of thermal projection and inspection of ceramic coatings and examples of applications of these productive technologies, and also in the last session of these I Days of Manufacturing Technologies will take place a round table on these topics.

The program of these days, can be consulted in the link https://www.etsii.upct.es/jornadas_ETSII/2019/I_Jornadas_Tecnologia_Fabricacion/

The School of Industrialists of Cartagena has for many years a close relationship with the University of Stuttgart (Germany), and thanks to it each course a large number of students of this center travel to Stuttgart with scholarships to Erasmus + or to practice in important research laboratories of this university and in large multinationals such as Daimler - Mercedes Benz, BMW, Bosch, Mahle, and in many cases before even concluding those practices are hired in the departments of product development, quality or manufacturing of these important companies , or they get a contract as researchers and professors at the University of Stuttgart, doing their doctoral thesis under the co-direction of professors of the School of Industrialists of Cartagena.

These seminars can also be used by students from the Industrial School to ask directly the faculty and researchers of the University of Stuttgart all the doubts they may have about the double degree program that we have with this German university, about the realization of internships in important companies in this area of Germany and on the possibility of carrying out their doctoral studies in this German university.

In fact Venancio Martínez García is one of our students who once traveled to Stuttgart to do a doctorate and is currently part of this university as assistant professor.
