Cs Cartagena will request explanations in the Plenary for the contributions of the City Council to the Transport Master Plan (18/03/2019)

- An agreement promoted by Citizens a year ago required the local Executive to design a map of transport needs in Cartagena, "to be able to face with guarantees and with clear ideas the period of proposals and allegations to the regional plan, but they have not done nothing".

Cs Cartagena has been able to verify that the Initial Draft of the Master Plan for Transport of the Region of Murcia does not include a solution for the needs of students of Bachiller and Vocational Training of Cartagena and the rest of the municipalities of the Region.

This contrasts, warns Cs, with the recent announcement made by the regional president, Fernando López-Miras, of wanting to implement free transportation for high school students from the next term.

Citizens remember that currently the regulation of school transport is given by the Order of June 3, 2002 and marks that the Community has competencies in the transportation of students from nursery to 4th ESO, "and only allows students of post-compulsory education to use buses assigned to school routes when there are spare places, "explains the Cs spokesperson who understands that" education authorities must work to guarantee access to public education for all, and the announcement of the regional president, which took place only Weeks after Citizens claim it, it falls short and is not even foreseen in the preliminary draft of the Transportation Master Plan ".

Manuel Padín recalls that what Cs demands is already under way in other communities and involves "the design of a needs map where probably some territories solve the problem with regular school lines, and in others, new lines and squares have to be created; plan must be designed and expressed in the master plan and with the corresponding financing, without that we have nothing, just another electoral holder for the PP, and we all know what that means ".

To the Plenary and the Regional Assembly

Cs informs that at this moment, after the publication in the BORM, the phase of contribution of observations and allegations has begun, and for that reason "we have asked our Group in the Assembly to develop a proposal to optimize the school transport of our youth. students of Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, in addition, we will register in the City Council an initiative for the Executive to transfer the multiple needs in the transport of Cartagena and detect and correct the possible imbalances that may be reflected in the document that may harm Cartagena and its Region " .

In addition, the liberal training will ask for explanations for the participation of the City of Cartagena to the draft "we do not even know what contributions the PSOE has made to the regional transport plan and which of them have been accepted and which rejected."

The PSOE loses the opportunity

Ciudadanos recalled that its plenary agreement of March 2018 requires the PSOE Government in Cartagena to develop a comprehensive municipal plan for the optimization of the collective transport of passengers by road that has as a previous basis the realization, by the municipal technicians, of a detailed report on the needs in urban and school transport that exist in Cartagena, "was not a capricious motion, but we had very present that the Master Plan of Transportation in the Region of Murcia was being prepared and it was vital to be able to face the period of contributions and allegations with the duties done and the clear ideas ", Manuel Padín has explained that he reproaches the local government for his passivity to execute the agreement.

Finally, Manuel Padín recalls that Ciudadanos included almost 7 million euros for public transport in the 2019 accounts, "a game that could well be aimed at improving the mobility of our students".
