Entrepreneurs and generators of opportunities go hand in hand at SEW 19 Cartagena (15/03/2019)

Hernández announces the start-up of a club of investors in Cartagena so that the projects of the entrepreneurs of the region are financed with local private capital

Institutions, associations and organizations with programs to create opportunities for those who want to launch a business project and entrepreneurs who have already taken a step forward to launch their innovative idea, have shared a working day at the Startup Europe Week (SEW) 2019), a global movement whose goal is to help entrepreneurs around the world grow and prosper.

The Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena hosted today the closing day of this initiative, which involved more than 300 cities from 50 countries, and which was attended by the founder and CEO of SEW, Igor Tasic, and the president of COEC, Pedro Pablo Hernández, who announced the start-up of a club of investors in Cartagena so that the projects of the entrepreneurs of the region are financed with local private capital.

The event began with the round table entitled 'The entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cartagena', in which representatives of institutions related to entrepreneurship exposed the resources they offer for the start-up of new companies.

At the table, in addition to the president of COEC, the president of the Association of Businesswomen and Professionals (AMEP) of Cartagena and Comarca, Nuria Castillo;

the president of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs, José Manuel Antón, and the project manager of the European Business and Innovation Center of Cartagena (CEEIC), Carlos Hurtado.

Also the head of the area of ​​Business Development of the Institute of Development (INFO) of the Region of Murcia, María José Bernal Torres;

the general director of the Employment and Training Service (SEF) of the Autonomous Community, Severa González;

the manager of the Agency for Local Development and Employment of the City of Cartagena (ADLE), Fulgencio Cerón Mora;

the head of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Technology-Based Enterprise (OEBBT) of the UPCT, Mario Rosique Blasco, and the Cloud Incubator Hub UPCT, Andrés Carrillo Casanova.

'PITCH OF THE ENTREPRENEURS'

Then, six participants in the COEC Entrepreneurs 360 Program took the floor in the 'Pitch of the entrepreneurs', an activity consisting of exposing their projects to attract potential investors for their growth or consolidation.

Thus, they told those present from the advantages of a sport fishing app to an innovative parasol, going through a dive marketplace, the online sale of alternative clothing, business solutions 'On Cloud' or a consultancy on circular economy.

The day was dotted with two videoconferences from the United States, one by Mónica Martínez Vicente, an architect who from Miami (Florida) told her project 'Memory' of applying neuro-architecture to tombstones, and another from Austin (Texas) , by Antonia Warren García-Vaso, member of the Chamber of Commerce of this North American city.

Finally, the SEW concluded with a paper entitled 'Machine Learning', also by videoconference, by the coordinator of the Startup Europe Week, Vassia Madesi, from Thessaloniki, a Greek city with an entrepreneurial ecosystem similar to that of Cartagena.
