The editors of Education and Environment inform the AMPA and the school management of the Strait of San Ginés of the results of the study of soil (15/03/2019)

The councilors of Education, Mercedes García, and Environment, Manuel Mora, accompanied by municipal technicians, have held a meeting at the school of the San Ginés Strait, with the AMPA and members of the center's management to explain the results of the study of soil characterization.

As indicated by the councilors and municipal technicians, the assessment made has determined that the concentrations of some metals detected can pose a risk to students and workers, due to the possibility of direct direct contact or accidental ingestion of land.

It should be noted that the levels of risk detected are based on exposure times and the rate of contact with the ground, which are much higher than those actually occurring, in order to determine possible risk situations with a wide margin of safety.

However, the Councilor for the Environment, Manuel Mora, explained that "once the risk is detected, it is necessary to take the appropriate measures to eliminate it and avoid any type of problem that could harm the students and the school staff.

After talking with the AMPA and the center, it has been decided that covering the floor with a concrete screed is the most feasible and safe option ".

At the request of the AMPA, the City Council decided to take charge of the soil analysis and awarded, on December 28, 2018, the works of 'Physical-Chemical Characterization, Risk Analysis and Proposals for Corrective Measures in the Soil of CEIP San Ginés de la Jara ', awarded to Hera Holding Habitat, Ecología y Restauración SL, an accredited company that yesterday, Thursday 14 March, sent the Consistory the results obtained.

In addition, "we have asked the Autonomous Community to carry out the paving of the patio with the greatest possible urgency and we are willing to collaborate in everything that is necessary so that it is done as soon as possible," said the mayor of Education.

Both councilors have held this meeting with the main objective that both the AMPA and the management team of the school are informed of the situation at all times.
