NAVANTIA launches the SUM @ Program to promote diversity and gender equality (08/03/2019)

The Shipyard of Cartagena has summoned the workers to an event to raise awareness in these values ​​with a talk by the board of SABIC, Mahue Sánchez

The president of NAVANTIA, Susana de Sarriá, today addressed to the entire staff a message of support for gender equality, stressing that it is an "unavoidable and strategic goal, and with the firm intention of making it a reality as soon as possible" .

That is why NAVANTIA is launching today the SUM @ program, which aims to make NAVANTIA a workplace where everyone can develop and grow by eliminating gender-specific barriers

Susana de Sarriá highlighted "the moment of transformation in which NAVANTIA finds itself with the recent approval of the Strategic Plan, the first Collective Agreement Intercentros and the major programs underway".

He said he understands diversity as a fundamental part of that strategy of growth and transformation, for which he highlights the need for a great cultural evolution in this sense.

The first steps have already been taken with the constitution of the Equality Commission, last month, and with the launch today of the SUM @ Program, a platform based on respect, equal opportunities and collaboration for the common benefit, where women and men share knowledge and accelerate cultural evolution.

Awareness raising

Each NAVANTIA center has carried out events with the aim of spreading this message and making NAVANTIA a workplace where every person can develop and grow without taking into account gender-specific barriers and in order to achieve diversity objectives.

In the case of the Cartagena Shipyard, the SABIC petrochemical company participated in the event, with a conference that was given by Mahue Sánchez, responsible for Europe of the Strategy and Investment Planning Department of the five plants that the multinational It has distributed throughout the continent.

Sánchez shared with the attendees his thoughts on his 20 years of work in the company, in which he has held various positions of responsibility.

During her speech, she has also related her experiences in different SABIC platforms, such as the SABIC Women Network initiative, a global network of professional women, dedicated to developing female talent in the multinational.

The event has been closed by the Quality Manager of the Shipyard, Óscar Fernández, who is responsible for the start-up and execution of the SUM @ Program at the NAVANTIA dock in Cartagena.

During his talk, he explained to the audience what this program is, what it consists of and some of the initiatives that will be launched soon.

He has also called on the attendees, and the staff in general, to participate actively in them.
