MC Cartagena will demand to enable parking spaces for people with reduced mobility in the facilities of the Santa Ana Sports Club (08/03/2019)

This morning, the councilor of the MC Cartagena municipal group, Ricardo Segado, announced the will of his training to demand, during the course of the next plenary session, that, immediately, "take the necessary actions to provide the environment with the facilities Club Deportivo Santa Ana with parking spaces for people with reduced mobility and thus facilitate access and arrival to users. "

"Due to the large number of them, 2,000 members, since it is an area with many parking spaces will have to be enabled at least parking for four vehicles," said Segado.

Immediately after, the councilor of the Cartagena training has based the motivation of the proposal.

"It is inexcusable to guarantee institutional assistance to contribute to the splendid work carried out by the Adapted Sports Club 'Icue Cartagena', an entity that, among others, makes use of these facilities, with their work they provide a space for recreation and sports practice. They have a place for socialization but also to gain in quality of life with almost individualized activities ".

"We understand that there should be no excuse that once the initiative is collected, the socialist government understands the urgency of this action and do what is necessary to enable reserved parking spaces that are accurate," said the mayor.

In this sense, Ricardo Segado recalled that this demand "can not be delayed any longer, because the Government of Castejón, through the Conservation Entity of the Santa Ana Industrial Estate, has been aware of this for more than a year. One week they came back to remind him but, as in many other issues, the socialist response is the same, neglect and forgetfulness ".

Difficulties to solve

"Currently," Segado continued, "the families who use the club, more than fifty, are in serious difficulties when parking in the vicinity of the facilities as there are no places reserved for people with mobility problems. They must overcome the difficulties on the road from the place where they park until they reach the club, so the administration is obliged to eliminate these barriers because it is simply a matter of will. "

Subsequently, the Cartagena leader praised "the great efforts made by parents and staff of the club to make all the reforms in terms of accessibility, setting an example and facilitating any travel within the facilities."

Facilities that host more than 2,000 members

The need to facilitate parking adapted for people with reduced mobility is fully justified by the large volume of users of an infrastructure that provides shelter to more than 2,000 members belonging to the Santa Ana Sports Club. It collaborates in numerous sports projects hosting clubs and sporting events with solidarity purposes.

One of the user entities, the Adapted Sports Club 'Icue Cartagena', works with people with different types of disability (physical, intellectual or sensory).

Its activities take place from Monday to Saturday.

In addition, they carry out programs through their Summer School, while also doing it during festivities such as Easter or Christmas.

Through agreements, other entities such as APICES, ASIDO or 'Autismo somos todos' make use of the facilities.
