Big doses of creativity, ingenuity and fun in the FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualifying Tournament in Cartagena (04/03/2019)

FIRST LEGO League is the STEM program of reference in Spain and the world.

1 team has been selected to participate in the FIRST LEGO League Spain Grand Final.

In the auditorium of the UPCT a new edition of the FIRST LEGO League Regional Tournament has been held in Cartagena, a day of marked playful tone and fun.

The CEEIC has been the organizer of the FIRST LEGO Qualifying Tournament that has brought together a total of 27 teams and more than 1,000 people who have wanted to join this great event of science, technology and fun.

The development of STEM competences (acronym in English to identify Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is one of the fundamental objectives of the educational agenda worldwide.

These competences are key to fostering a competitive economy that responds to the real challenges of society: based on knowledge, respectful of the environment and socially inclusive.

FIRST LEGO League is the STEM program of reference in Spain and also in the world.

FIRST LEGO League is inspired by a real problem to propose an exciting Challenge and encourages young people to solve it through the opportunities offered by science and technology.

From the presentation of the Challenge, which this season focuses on the theme of Space with INTO ORBIT, the program encourages young people to investigate an idea in different scenarios, test it, discard it, validate it and change it to reach its own conclusions.

Thus, the 16,000 participants of this season have worked as a team to design, build and program a robot and to develop a scientific project that provides a solution to a specific problem that they themselves have identified within the theme of Space.

In this 13th edition of the FIRST LEGO League, there will be 37 FIRST LEGO League qualifying tournaments in Spain, such as the one held this past Sunday in Cartagena.

The organization is grateful for the participation of the more than 100 volunteers without whom the Regional FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualification Tournament would not have been possible, as well as the commitment of collaborators such as LEGO Education ROBOTIX, Airbus, Princess of Girona Foundation and the sponsors of the event in the UPCT

All participants have received a medal in recognition of their participation and all teams will be the Electronic Falcons team who will travel to Tenerife to participate on 23 and 24 in the FIRST LEGO League Spain Grand Final.
