The Civil Guard detained an experienced criminal dedicated to stealing in the Campo de Cartagena housing (02/03/2019)

So far he is credited with the alleged responsibility of a crime of robbery with violence and five crimes of robbery with force

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the 'Plan against theft in homes', has carried out the operation 'Granacar' which, until now, has been settled with the arrest of an experienced criminal and enlightenment of six crimes of theft in homes: one with violence and five with force.

The actions began at the end of last year, when an increase in robberies was detected in homes in several localities in the regions of Campo de Cartagena and Mar Menor, facts that had caused social alarm among the population.

On the one hand, exhaustive technical-ocular inspections were carried out in the buildings where the robberies were committed in order to gather all the possible indications about the modus operandi and the perpetrators of the criminal acts.

On the other hand, the Civil Guard established a series of preventive surveillance devices that were intended to prevent the commission of further theft and, where appropriate, detect and frustrate them with the arrest of their perpetrators.

The analysis of the signs collected in the assaulted houses allowed the investigators to identify a person who would correspond with the presumed material author of several criminal acts.

The meticulous study of the criminal facts and the field work carried out by the investigators allowed to verify that in the commission of all the criminal acts investigated a very characteristic vehicle was used, being the same one recognized by several witnesses, corresponding to a high-end vehicle .

The modus operandi used consisted of carrying out a preliminary study of the areas where it was intended to commit a crime, apparently in the company of one or two other persons, in order to know the customs and schedules of the residents of the dwellings, taking advantage of the periods of time that the they left the buildings to perpetrate the theft.

The objectives were always inhabited dwellings, since this guarantees that there would be valuable objects, such as cash and technological means, that are not usually found in second homes or holiday homes.

During the course of the operation there was a violent robbery in San Javier, in which extreme violence was used against the victim, which resulted in injuries of various kinds and to which they stole a large amount of cash.

In the operation, the Civil Guard has counted on the citizen collaboration, which has contributed many interesting data.

In addition, a citizen came to try to prevent the commission of robbery with violence.

Once all the necessary evidence has been obtained, the Civil Guard established a search device on the suspect that has culminated with its location, detention and subsequent judicial recourse as alleged perpetrator of the crimes of robbery with and violence and robbery with force.

At the time of the arrest, the arrested man has been seized the high-end vehicle he used to travel while carrying out the enlightened criminal activity.

Investigators have clarified, so far, six crimes of theft committed in the municipalities of Cartagena, Torre Pacheco and San Javier.

Admission in prison of the detainee

The Ecuadorian arrested, of 20 years, resident in Torre Pacheco and with police records for similar crimes, the effects seized and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Court of Instruction of San Javier (Murcia), which has decreed his entry into prison provisional.
