Valverde made these statements after the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Cartagena High Speed society, held in Cartagena, where the recovery of the solution included in the 2006 protocol was approved, which allows the arrival of high-speed underground through the layout current to the Víctor Beltrí station.

"We can not lose more time to connect Cartagena to the High Speed network," said the counselor, who demanded that the State "specify deadlines and projects so that the arrival of High Speed is a reality in the shortest time possible."

At the meeting of the Board of Directors, the Minister of Development and Infrastructure urged the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Pedro Saura, "to recover the lost time" and requested that the road that is built to maintain rail traffic during the works are of the XXI century, electrified and compatible with international width.

Railway improvement for goods

In addition, Valverde demanded that the goods be diverted before arriving in Cartagena to service the future Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) of Cartagena and the intermodal terminal.

This action will improve the connection with the Escombreras dock, facilitate the Alumbreras Alternative and provide an adequate rail service to the future dock of El Gorguel.
