Cs collects complaints from the residents of El Bohío about the state of the green areas, the asphalt, playgrounds and lighting (22/02/2019)

- "Money from playgrounds has gone to the construction of new facilities, but not to the maintenance of desolate and dangerous spaces for our children like the one that exists in El Bohío, which is in the Media Legua, in the Plaza de Feliciano Sánchez de Barrio de Peral, better known as "Las Buhardillas", and many others, that should be the priority ", says the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín

- The works of the Plaza Manuel de Falla are still standing and have generated strong criticism among residents

Cartagena, Friday, February 22.

The works stopped and limited in the Plaza Manuel de Falla, playgrounds, abandoned green areas, cracked asphalt, problems with sewerage and street lighting, are some of the main complaints that the residents of El Bohío maintain and recriminate today to the City of Cartagena.

The spokesman of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has met with the president of the Association of Neighbors, Alberto Gómez, who has been very critical of the development of the work, "and I am not surprised because the works are still stopped since December , they leave half of the square without a single action with the pavement sunk and cracked, no trees have been pruned, no streetlights have been placed, and the fence that must prevent access until the work is completed is sunk and without the due anchors ", has described the spokesman of Cs.

When it rains, the electricity goes out in El Bohío

The neighborhood representative has also denounced the widespread abandonment of asphalt on all streets of this town and the loss of street lighting every time it rains, issues that the spokesman for Citizens has collected to send a letter to the corresponding municipal departments.

Finally, Alberto Gómez regrets that the green areas of the town are completely abandoned and dry and has claimed the presence and work of the operators of the Parks and Gardens services.

Abandoned playgrounds

Regarding the abandonment of the parks, Manuel Padín has visited the children's area that is located in Antonio de Cabezón street in El Bohío, "I have seen torture rooms more pleasant and accessible, just looking at it depresses you, it is something devastating", denounces Manuel Padín who describes this space as "a symbol of the apathy and indifference of the City Council and its contempt for maintenance work."

The playground has raised the quilted pavement with the danger that this entails for children who make use of the only two and completely deteriorated games found there, "and does not meet the minimum security requirements," says Padin who reports which will ask in the next Plenary for the preventive closure of this space and that a project for its preparation be already drafted.

Cs criticizes that the Government has been boasting publicly with the supposed priority that it has given during the last two years to the playgrounds and for having invested 1.4 million euros, "but the reality is that this money has been destined to the construction of new equipment, but not the maintenance of desolate and dangerous spaces for our children like the one that exists in El Bohío, which is located in the Media Legua, in Plaza de Feliciano Sánchez de Barrio de Peral, better known as "Las Attic, "and many others, that should be the priority, the arrangement, the security of those that exist," says Manuel Padin who recalls that the Plenary of February 2017 agreed to the proposal of Cs the general revision of all the playgrounds of the municipality, to ensure that they comply with European safety and health regulations.

This agreement included a point by which the local Executive is obliged to develop a municipal ordinance that compiles European regulations on safety in children's areas, including measures of accessibility and integration for those infants with a mental or physical disability.

"After two years since the agreement, this Municipal Group has no evidence that these facilities have been reviewed or that the ordinance that should regulate their safety is being prepared," lamented Manuel Padín.
