Ccoo prepares Cartagena for Industry 4.0 (20/02/2019)

In the local employment table promoted by the City of Cartagena, the union intervenes to highlight the training deficiencies of the region in certain industrial professions

CCOO INDUSTRIA offers its Training Center for the Industry of Cartagena in order to face the new challenges that will come about in the next decade in all the industrial sectors of the region

On February 14, a new meeting of the Local Employment Board took place at the City Council of Cartagena, which continues to try to implement a Plan of Employment sustained in time for the city and its region.

In this meeting, the local delegation of CCOO intervened in a determined way to show that the local industry runs the risk of losing the train of industry 4.0, the new industrial revolution in the making.

In the opinion of the union, the industrial poles of the city (with important work centers such as Navantia, Repsol and Sabic) are not prepared to face these new challenges and one of those shortcomings is precisely the training.

CCOO considers that during the last years the government policies have abandoned the training actions and the workers have not been able to train in the new (and also in the old) professions, especially in the industry.

To meet these shortcomings, CCOO INDUSTRY has suitable facilities, those of the Training Center for the Industry of Cartagena, which is capable of training industry workers in its 37 specialties approved by the SEF, as well as being open to the formation of the new professions that industry 4.0 will bring with complete certainty.

That is the contribution that the union can make to promote employment in the region of Cartagena.

We are sure that the City of Cartagena is not going to waste this opportunity.

If we do not do it, Cartagena will suffer again in 2020-2030 the rigors of a new industrial reconversion as we unfortunately had to suffer in the region in the nineties.
