The first edition of the charity race held on Sunday 17th organized by the Integrated Center for Professional Training (CEIP) Carlos III in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena was a success with more than a thousand participants.
During the race, solidarity was very present among the participants and organizers, among whom were runners of 12 Vocational Training Centers throughout the Region, focused on their main objective of raising funds.
Specifically, more than 10,000 euros have been obtained that have exceeded expectations, for the NGO Aztivate for food and medicine for the pediatric center of Turkana, the poorest region of northern Kenya.
It was the Councilor for Sports, Manuel Mora, in charge of giving the start to the race on Calle del Carmen at 10.30 am with the help of more than 100 volunteers from the Carlos III educational center and infrastructure technicians of the Department of Sports during all day, as well as health personnel and local police who ensured the correct celebration of the sporting event.
The councilor of Tourism and Culture, David Martínez, was not interested in losing the day either, who was in charge of delivering the prizes to the winners of all three categories: The 7 km race, which had around 250 runners, together with two marches with more than 700 participants, a walk and family walk and a march on skates.
The day, which also had the assistance of the counselors of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, and Transparency, Participation and Speaker, Noelia Arroyo, in addition to the general director of Sports, Alonso Gómez López, and the mayor of the Esperanza Nieto Corporation, passed without incident in all the tests.
